From the Director of Boarding - Ian Rowe

One year has gone by and, before we know it, we are into another! I hope that you all had a great Christmas and the New Year has started off well for you.

Over the summer, we have been really busy. For one week, we had the North Shore Swimming Club using Carruth House (and the swimming pool) at 6:00am for training! I knew there was a reason why I am not a swimmer!!!!. We also have had the ceiling in the dining hall painted (and new lights added), along with new lights in the junior lounge area as well. Furthermore, there have been other painting jobs completed, ensuring the place is certainly looking smart!

On Auckland Anniversary weekend we welcomed 25 new boarders into Year 9. Their last few weeks have been filled with lots of activities and with getting to know each other. Boarding school develops and fosters positive relationships and this area is always a key focus for us. As well as our largest intake of Year 9 students for many years, it has also been a delight to welcome other boarders who have come into different year groups.

Last weekend, a large number from Carruth House went to Toll Stadium to support Donald who was playing Rugby League for the Northern Swords against the Warriors Academy. It would be true to say that the result didn't go the way we wanted, but it was great watching Donald, and we all wish him all the best for a possible career in the sport.

You will have received an email to say that the school swimming sports had to be postponed, and will now be on Monday 22 February. All Carruth House parents are welcome to spend the day watching them from our advantage point overlooking the pool, and enjoy the food and drinks we are happy to provide for you throughout the day. Lets hope that the weather turns out fine!!!!
