Regina Junior Senior High School
May 19, 2020
I can't believe we are in the final week of regular classes. Next week would have been semester assessments. Time has gone by fast during our closure. I guess that's a good thing given the circumstances.
Time has flown by with this group of seniors as well. While they have not been able to have a typical end to their high school and Regina careers, they have shown tremendous perseverance, understanding, and resolve in dealing with this epidemic. Although they remind us that they are "just teenagers" at times, they have been forced into a situation where they have demonstrated maturity beyond their years. I would like to thank our seniors for their years of service, academic excellence, and standout performances in extracurricular activities. You will be missed, but always remembered by me, our faculty and staff, and the Regina community.
This update has some new articles, videos, and information on the end of the year. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions. Here are some of the new items this newsletter:
- Joe Polyak was the Iowa State Champion for the American Scholastic Challenge!
- Resources for coding activities.
- Senior & Underclassmen Check-in
- Turn On the Lights Night
- Summer Activities
- A video from Word on Fire about getting through our time in the "desert."
Your in Christ,

Materials Pick-up and Turn-in for Seniors
We will be having your end of the year check-out on Friday, May 22nd. Times have been assigned to help us keep with social distancing guidelines. So please be sure to follow the appropriate time slots. This will be our chance to turn in everything that you normally would on the last day of school. We ask that you wear a mask if possible. We will have sanitized pens available for everyone to use as a single use and then placed in a "dirty" bin. We will follow a one in and one out policy similar to what we did for textbook pickup.

Items to consider:
1) Chromebooks- There is a table set up that has a sign out sheet for Chromebooks. On this sheet you will place your name, the computer id number, and mark if you are missing anything. Missing chargers are $30 fee and you can bring them that day. Missing chromebooks are a $300 fee and you can also bring that check that day. Once sheets are filled out you will lysol spray your chromebook and case, place the checkout sheet inside the computer and place it in a bin that is located below the table.
2) Textbooks- There are two tables set up with signout sheets provided by your senior teachers. On each sheet of paper is the teacher's name, the course, and list of students who should be submitting a book, some teachers also have specific book numbers. You will find the appropriate class, initial next to your name, that you are returning that book and then also write down what book number you are turning in. If you have lost the book please let me know and I will reach out to the teacher and see what next steps are. You will then place the book in the pile above the sign out sheet.
3. Library books- Those of you who have library books already received an email from Mrs. Belknap in regards to what is missing. There is a spot located on top of her turn in bin with slips that show your name, what books you have and the cost of missing books. If you lost a book please let me know. When turning the book in, please grab your sheet of paper, place inside the cover of the book and place it in the return bin. I believe this applies to about 10 of you.
4. PE Uniforms- In the past some students have decided to donate their PE uniforms for others to purchase next year. If you wish to do that you can put them in the bin that is labeled PE uniforms.
5. Extra supplies- There is a table that is set up that is labeled a donation table. This is a place where if you have extra supplies you don't want, we ask that you place them there so other teachers and students can use them next year. Items that often make it to this table every year are: binders, loose leaf papers, unused notebooks, pens, pencils, note cards, calculators, tissue paper, etc.
6. Additional items- some teachers have a few additional items for some of you so those will be on another table with your name on it. Please be sure to check out with either Shelly or I before leaving to make sure you don't have something to go home with you.
7. Transcript request forms- Mrs. Zoulek will be there with your final transcript request forms. Be sure to stop and fill that out prior to leaving.
8. Athletic office- There is a bin set up for any uniforms (school or athletic) that need returned to the school. Carolyn will reach out to each of you if you don't turn in any uniform that was provided by the school.
9. There will be trash cans and recycling bins also set up to place those items in them.
