Last Principal Update of the Year
Have a Great Summer, from Mrs. Hummon
Thank you for a Great School Year!
Today I am very grateful for the best job I could ever hope to have, the staff family that I lead, and for being a part of the lives of the many amazing students and families of Pueblo!
We look forward to seeing you in August! See the last Smore (dated 5/19) for the "Save the Dates" upcoming.
As a reminder, I (Mrs. Hummon) do work all summer. I will be taking some time off in June and July but am always available via email or cell phone.

Last week the teachers and I got together for vertical articulation...this is a process where the grades below and above meet to ensure that we are on the same page with the essential standards. We ensure that we are clear about what we want each student to master in the grade before and what we need to do to send them prepared for the grade following.
Some suggestions teachers made for summer activities K-2
- Let students get practice with organization and writing by making lists (grocery, to do, etc)
- Practice numbers in isolation- ask your child to practice naming numbers that you see on signs, at the grocery store, on menus, etc.
- Allow students to practice folding paper and cutting paper (small muscle skill development)
- Practice skip counting by 2's (they seem to have skipping by 5 and 10 down well
Some Suggestions for 3-5
- Practicing math word problems (math)- maybe pose some challenges while driving or paying bills (as a suggestion)
- Keep a summer journal for writing practice
- Practice citing evidence
- Practice with rounding and place value
