This Week's Note From Mr. Evan Chelman, Principal

Dear Hill-Roberts Families,

Happy New Year! The initial work has been done by the educators of Hill-Roberts to put in place the structures and routines that allow for rich learning opportunities to happen during this most crucial time of the year. As we head into the middle of winter in New England, please do your best to keep yourselves and your kids healthy and ready to learn. This stretch is an important one, between now and February vacation.

Speaking of being healthy, please see the new AUTOMATED ATTENDANCE NOTIFICATION routine below.

This was also the first week for our new Acting Assistant Principal, Mrs. Alicia Morin. Please see below for her introduction. We hope to see many faces at Tuesday night's PTO Meeting!

Be well,

"Hello," from Acting Assistant Principal, Alicia Morin

I am very excited to join Hill-Roberts and embark on a new adventure as Acting Assistant Principal. It has been a fabulous week getting to know the Hill-Roberts students, staff, and community. I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little bit about myself and my time in the Attleboro Public Schools. I began my teaching career at Willett Elementary School 24 years ago as a Special Education Teacher for grades 1 and 2. I then spent 18 years as a Grade 4 Classroom Teacher at Hyman Fine and Thacher, and recently before coming to Hill-Roberts, I was an Instructional Technology Coach at both Willett and Studley. I have a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education, a Master's Degree in Teaching Reading, and am currently finishing up my Educational Specialist Degree in Leadership from BSU. I genuinely love working in the Attleboro Public Schools and fostering a love for learning and life in students. In addition to being a lifelong learner and educator, I am a mom to a 19-year-old daughter Abby who attends BSU, and a 17-year-old son Ben who is a high school senior at Dighton Rehoboth Regional High School as well as two cats, and two dogs. My husband and I live in the neighboring community of Rehoboth. Along with my passion for my family and teaching, I am an animal lover of almost anything furry, enjoy kayaking, gardening, being near the ocean, hiking, and practicing yoga. I look forward to my time at Hill-Roberts and supporting the students and staff here!

Student Attendance Notification Protocol

Dear Families,

As we all know, student attendance is directly connected to student success. Starting on Monday, January 9, Attleboro Public Schools will adjust the way attendance alerts are sent to a student’s contacts. Moving forward, the primary contact for any student who is marked absent will be sent a text and phone message, regardless of whether you have already notified the school. If you do not receive a message from the school, please reach out to the main office at your student’s school to confirm your mobile number is correct in our database. Alternatively, families may complete the “APS Student Contact Update” workflow in Aspen. Instructions on how to complete this workflow can be found here:
