The Washington Monument was a very important landmark in the 18th century. The Washington Monument was built between 1848 and 1884 as a tribute to George Washington because of his strong dedication and leadership. during the American Revolution. It was built in the shape of an Egyptian Obelisk, and made of granite, marble and blue stone gneiss. it stands as the tallest stone structure, and obelisk.

History
The Washington Monument was built between 1848 and 1884, and was made to show respect and gratitude to America's Founding Father and his outstanding leadership during the American Revolution, after his dreadful death. Robert Mills designed the Washington Monument. On Aug. 23 2011 the monument got damaged by the 2011 Virginia earthquake, with about 150 cracks
