Prescription Drug abuse in Teens
Abstract
In this paper I will be telling you about the issue that is prescription drug abuse in teens. This is a very important and growing issue in today’s world and this bothers me because teens should not be doing any drugs but the fact that they are getting ahold of drugs that have to be ordered by a certified doctor is outrageous and unacceptable. In the past ten years the average of teens who admit to trying prescription drugs has skyrocketed by one hundred and thirteen percent. As a teen I believe this issue should be addressed immediately and if it is not it will progress until there is nothing we can do except pray that our own children make the right choice to not do prescription drugs. I have found three solutions I believe if put in action together will be enough to not only wean teens of these drugs but also stop the dealers and dirty doctors who write the scripts for them. These solutions I have collected and surveyed are that we need extreme stringencies on prescribing doctors for these drugs. Second, we need to supervise the children who are prescribed the drugs more closely to be sure they both take them and don’t try to sell them. Third, we need to put more severe punishments on people who are caught both abusing and selling their prescriptions to others especially teens.
Key Words: Prescription Drugs, Pills, Scripts, and Narcotics
In this day in this eternally screwed up world there are multiple issues that could be argued to be the world’s biggest problem but if we think of each problem as worse than the others than we will do nothing but squabble over which problem is worst so that we may fix it, I believe that every issue is part of the giant equation that is a screwed up world which is why I chose the world’s biggest problem in my eyes and what problem can I relate too. In that sense I chose the abuse of prescription drugs in teens because I’m a teen and I understand the push of peer pressure. This issue has escalated very quickly in the sense that twenty years ago no one had heard of teens using prescriptions for anything other than medicinal reasons. In the last ten years the amount of teens who admit to using these drugs have increased by one hundred and thirteen percent and it is still rising g at a scary yet respectable rate. This problem is one that should have never occurred, I do not think other drugs are good but there is no excuse for prescription drugs to be abused like they are marijuana or any other gateway drug. These teens find it easier to get ahold of prescription narcotics because there are so many different ways to get them it’s almost easier for teens to get prescriptions than it is for them to get weed. This problem will be addressed in three different ways that if put together in one massive movement will either rapidly reduce the problem with prescriptions or totally make our youth quite the awful drugs. These solutions are very simple and that doesn’t mean they will be ineffective it is actually the contrary these simple solutions will make the public more inclined to try the solutions because they are easy to do and they can be practiced in any type of lifestyle.
The first solution is that we as a country and concerned people should be much more stringent on the doctors who prescribe these prescription drugs. We all know there are some doctors who are sadly not as honest as we think they are, these doctors are paid to write scripts for false illnesses so that the people for whom there prescribed can sell them to kids and teens. Although most of the times it is not the doctors fault, most of the time it is the teens fault these teens look up the symptoms of ADHD and other disorders in which they could get prescribed drugs for treatment. They then start acting like they have these symptoms until the point that their parents take them to the doctor who out of lack of higher knowledge writes the scripts for their medication. Then the teens go out and sell them without a care. There is also a third concept which is that of the teens not taking their medication and choosing to sell it instead, and this is not the doctors fault by any means this is the poor decision made by addicted teens. I digress the solution is to make the doctors think harder on who to give the scripts too and how often to refill them this should be the first step in abolishing the prescription drug abuse.
The second strike in the war on teen prescription drug abuse is to increase the supervision on those who should be taking these drugs. This will give us an idea of how many kids actually need these drugs to function as a decent part of everyday society and which kids take these drugs just because they want to get high and think it’s easier to do this than to get common street weed. This may seem like such a simple idea but it can be effective as long as we stick to it and apply the first solution which is to limit prescribing doctors then the kids who are buying the drugs will show the signs of withdrawal but will also be sobering up off the drugs which will be good for their futures. This will also show us how and where the kids sell the drugs and then we could set up stings and raids where we can confiscate the narcotics and then put the third part of the plan into effect the extreme punishment portion. As supervision goes it can be done in many different ways it can be either closely watched by adults or my personal favorite increased camera watch over the suspected teens.
The final attack in the strategy in the plan against prescription drugs is to increase the extremity of the punishment for those who don’t have the right prescriptions to take the drugs. This will work in company with the other two steps because the kids will already be going through withdrawals of the life without drugs so the punishment will burn the scars of how bad drugs are until they are scared and unwilling to do these drugs again. This punishment can be flexible depending on how bad or long they have been on the pills. In my opinion though it should follow a zero tolerance policy like with the alcohol consumption in adolescents, this would make sure that any kid thinking about trying drugs will take a second thought because of how severe the punishments are. These punishments can be anywhere from jail time all the way through a program in which the kids can’t leave their homes until they are determined to be clean of all drugs and can be a functioning part of society again.
In conclusion this issue of teens abusing prescription drugs is a major issue in today’s society that I believe has solutions that can reverse its effects and totally stop it from continuing at all. The first solution is that of putting more stringent rules on the doctors who write all of the prescriptions for the illegal and legal scripts. The second solution is that we need to increase the supervision on kids who are believed to be hooked on these drugs which will force them to become sobered up and help others get clean. With the final and third solution in this plan the punishments that are so severe that it forces anyone who even thinks about trying these drugs will be forced onto being scared into never trying them. This in a whole is my large solution to this larger than life issue.

Cause and Effect
Abstract
In this paper I will discuss the causes and effects of divorce. These causes and effects of divorce are unfaithfulness, which is when a spouse or both spouses are committing adultery with another person that is not their spouse. This effect usually results in a less civil divorce with more hatred in the courts. Another cause is spouse laziness, which is when a spouse stops doing their part in the relationship. The effect is usually a quick and easy divorce with one side very depressed while the other is indifferent. The last cause is spouse unwillingness, which is when a spouse is unwilling to both admit to having a problem or unwilling to resolve a problem. The effect to this is again divorce but it is usually a divorce that is drawn out because the spouse is again unwilling to compromise.
Keywords: divorce, unfaithfulness, lazy, fornicating, unwillingness, and argument.
What’s up with all the divorce?
This topic of divorce is one of upmost severity it has been shown that in recent years the percentage of divorces is skyrocketing. Although, we may have the answer, also in the last 10 years the amount of adultery, spouse unwillingness and laziness has been much higher. Could these three simple reasons be the cause for all the split ups?
Spouse Unwillingness
Spouse unwillingness is the first cause that is to be thought to be the first of three causes of most divorces this is as I said before when a spouse is unwilling to compromise or do what the other spouse asks. This problem is usually caused when the unwilling spouse goes through a stressful encounter or is in a state of depression. Effects of this include the spouse becoming depressed or becoming very frustrated and passive aggressive.
Adultery
Adultery is the second of three main causes of divorce, adultery is when a spouse cheats on their spouse with another man/women and this cheating is not defined in any certain way but in the most part it is the fornication between two people. Effects of adultery include the spouse becoming very sheltered towards the other and the spouse developing a guilty mind when around their significant other.
Spouse laziness
Spouse laziness is the final of three main causes for divorce, it is defined as when a spouse is not interested in their souse anymore or just don’t want to do the work that comes with maintaining a marriage. The effects of spouse laziness include loss of interest in their spouse, refusal to work, and the spouse looking for literally anything to do so they don’t have to spend time with their spouse.
Loss in interest
Another cause that seems to reappear over and over is loss in interest in the spouse. This means that the spouse that initiates the divorce has lost all interest in the current spouse and wants to start anew. The effects are obvious unhappiness when with their with the spouse, and voiced hatred to them or making the spouse feel as if they have done the unhappy spouse wrong.
Conclusion
In conclusion divorce is a serious problem and there are many causes’ for it, these causes also have effects that lead to divorce. The causes that I focused on were the cause of spouse unwillingness which is when a spouse is unwilling to both admit to having a problem or unwilling to resolve a problem. The second is unfaithfulness which is when a spouse or both spouses are committing adultery with another person that is not their spouse. The third is spouse laziness which is when a spouse stops doing their part in the relationship. The final is loss of interest which is when a spouse is not interested in their spouse anymore and would do anything to get away from them for as long as they can. These causes do not condone the act of divorce but they do give us a look into the reasoning behind it and how we as a culture can look for so that we can fix or patch to limit the amount of divorces that occur for things that can be easily fixed if addressed quickly.

Technology and Humans
I believe that our advances I technology should be used to correct different forms of human life. Our technology advances should be directed in a few key areas in order to correct different forms of human life. It should be directed at research for a cure for terminal illness such as cancer and Parkinson’s. It should also be aimed at fighting terrorism and war and other things that put people in danger. This is how our advances in technology should be used.
First, our technology instead of being separated and barely managing many diseases, we should concentrate our technology on the most life threatening diseases and work our way down the list until all life-threatening disease is abolished. This may sound harsh to the minor disease control we would be giving up for a while but, in the long run a world with no disease is much better than a world with many diseases but only a few could kill you. This is why our technology should be used to correct different forms of human life.
Second, the advances in technology should be used to prevent terrorism and war. They should do this because if the truly want a changed world they need to remove violence and start with a foundation of peace. When this occurs we can remove the need for assault weapons all together making it almost if not completely impossible for terror cells to develop and cause damage to the world. This is another way technology could correct forms of human life.
In conclusion, technology should be used to correct different form of human life. It could be done by using it to cure terminal illness and hopefully all illness together. It could also help us work to a war free a terrorism free world. This is why technology should be used t correct different forms of human life.

In the time since I first wrote this I still believe that technology should be used to correct the worst of human life but I believe now that technology should be less concerned with war issues and more with homegrown threats like illness and domestic terrorism.

This may sound harsh to the minor disease control we would be giving up for a while but, in the long run a world with no disease is much better than a world with many diseases but only a few could kill you. This is why our technology should be used to correct different forms of human life.
Second, the advances in technology should be used to prevent terrorism and war. They should do this because if they truly wanted a change in the world they need to remove violence and start with a foundation of peace. When this occurs we can remove the need for assault weapons all together making it almost if not completely impossible for terrorists organizations to develop and cause damage to the world. This is another way technology could correct the forms of human life.
In conclusion, technology should be used to correct different form of human life. It could be done by using it to cure terminal illnesses and hopefully all illnesses together. It could also help us work to a war free and a terrorism free world. This is why technology should be used to correct different forms of human life.
Personal Narrative
Personal Narrative
In my personal narrative I am going to tell you what a fairytale is in my mind. This fairytale has no witches, monsters or kings, but in its own way it is magical! This fairytale begins with me on the golf course, Redwing Lake; I was practicing with the schools team. Then I received a text, the text said that my dad had really thought about an idea, this idea of his was to allow me to go to Canada with him this year as opposed to senior year. Without a moment’s hesitation I accepted, excitement filled to the point of implosion, no one could bring me down from this high, until I remembered that this trip was over a month away.
I skip ahead to the day id leave; I left school early to go to North Carolina with a family friend, I was flying with him, when I arrived at his house his five year old son wanted to play so without question I played with him. We arose the next morning around six am. We left for the airport excitement filling us, only 8 hours from Canada we thought. We were wrong.
When we arrived at the airport and get to our gate and we are crushed to see it delayed , it was such a bad delay that we did not make our connection to Canada. We sat in that in that airport for 8 hours with nothing to do but wait and hope. When we finally got on a plane out of that god forsaken airport it was “smooth-sailing”. We arrived in Canada at 11 pm that night and we did not reach the hotel until 1 am, as the night crept on we only could sleep until 5:30 before we had to be up and ready to go for the real adventure.
The reason I wanted to go to Canada is too hunt, not moose, not mule deer, but ducks and geese. That Saturday morning is one I will never forget the sun rising , the honk of geese all culminating in this one moment where we had all arrived, everyone was here no troubles anymore, no worries. It is almost like a heaven with no responsibilities and no cares in the world up there. That trip will be burned in my memory as both the best vacation I’ve ever had, and also the vacation in which I had to work harder than I ever had before, and finally the vacation in which I changed in my time away I grew up, I had fun, and I found peace.

Most would still be angry about the delays but not I, I was too happy to just be there to be upset over superficial things like that.

Dream Deferred
Personal
In my personal opinions when my dreams are deferred or smashed it feels as if someone has stepped on my chest constricting my air intake until I’m choking for just one last breath… my dreams do not get crushed often though. As I’ve grown up I changed from a very impressionable boy to being a very independent and self-thinking guy. A dream that has really been crushed was my dream of playing basketball in school, I loved basketball and I still do its my favorite sport to watch and play but I was told I’m not cut out for basketball, when I heard this I shrugged it off and worked harder but it was not going to help it wasn’t that I didn’t have the heart to play I just didn’t have the height to play my position and there’s nothing I can do about how tall I am. It hurt for a while but I decided to do my best with what I had and so I switched to playing small forward and I settled for playing rec leagues for now, all I care about is that I get to play.
Conflict
The conflict present in this poem is Man v. Self, I came to this conclusion after I thought about man v man because I thought only other people could crush dreams. I realized that not only the dreamer can forsake the dream, but if the dreamer allows others to influence his dreams then they were crushed before he even awoke from that dream. For those reasons the main conflict in this poem is Man v. Self.
Novel
In the novel the boys show many signs of their dreams being deferred. In this novel these boys dreamed of no war and peace and a happy and joy filled life with their parents at home. This dream was crushed with the start of the Second World War and when they were boarded on a plane to safety without their parents. Their other dream differed was when they were crash landed on an island unfamiliar to any without any grownups to look after and protects them. This dream hits a lot harder than others because when this dream of flying safely to a safe place was crushed they lost much if not all hope in what they could do to not only survive the island but the war, and the rest of their lives. This is how the boys dreams were deferred on the island.

All I care about is that I get an opportunity to play. Since I wrote this paper I’ve realized that the amount of time you get to play is not important only how you use the time you do get to play is important.
