JSA Volunteer Opportunities

"Thank you!" to all our wonderful Volunteers at Johnson STEAM Academy
Visitor/Volunteer Management System
VOLUNTEERS: The District requires anyone who volunteers in our school, to complete the online registration form. You can access that form at:
Click on “Our School”, scroll down, click on “Volunteer Register” and complete application. The approval for this can take up to 7 days, so please make sure this is filled out and submitted before volunteering. This application will need to be completed each school year. If you have any questions about the volunteer system, please contact Mrs. Ferring - LFerring@cr.k12.ia.us
VISITORS are required to have a driver's license or state issued ID to gain access to the building. The new Raptor system allows us to more easily track visitors and is designated to check visitors against the sex offender registry for an additional layer of safety for our students and staff. If you have any questions about the system, please contact Ms. Carlson 558-2174

AASA Case Study
Hello!
So much to celebrate at JSA!
In September of 2017 Dr. Buck sent an e-mail out to some principals from AASA that they were seeking nominations for innovative schools across the nation. JSA decided to plunge in and submit an application. About a month later, we found out that we were selected as 1 of 25 in the nation that were chosen to have a case study written about them with the goal of identifying and disseminating best practices.
After a rigorous process, including a site visit which involved classroom visits, interviews with teams of staff, students, and families, etc. Over the last year, we have collaborated with the author who worked with us to finalize the case study.
It has now been published and is available both online at the AASA and is attached below. The first page really spells out what AASA was looking for as well as their intent. http://www.aasa.org/content.aspx?id=42866.
We are so pleased with the outcome – please take a minute to read and celebrate.
Team JSA Rocks it yet again!

Community Partnerships
As a means of addressing the ever-evolving needs of CRCSD students and to stay focused on equity and safety, our process for working with community partners is changing!
For the upcoming year and beyond, CRCSD has created a more consistent process for partnering with community organizations who provide services to our students. The process was developed with the following considerations:
· Student safety
· Equitable opportunities for community organizations to partner with CRCSD
· Increased family engagement in identifying and coordinating student supports
· Improved accountability for intended organizational outcomes
· Greater opportunities to celebrate and recognize community-school collaborations
The process requires ALL organizations supporting district buildings to complete a Community Partnership Application. Organizations will then be listed as a district partner with a brief description of their program/service/contribution.
If you are a community organization providing services to students, please use the site linked HERE. The application will be reviewed by a district team and approved or denied based on a number of criteria.
Organizations with staff who have direct student contact on a regular basis are REQUIRED to have an agreement in place and approved by the Board of Education to reduce liability for all parties. Questions about the partnership process can be directed to partnerships@cr.k12.ia.us.
This process DOES NOT change the use of Raptor for individual building volunteers.
