HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 2 Week 11 Friday 2 July
FROM MARK
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have had such appreciative responses to the way in which the week has run at Holy Rosary. Thank you to everyone who got in touch. Student attendance was really high at 75% on Tuesday and above 80% for the rest of the week.
A big, successful, long and - almost - uninterrupted term! Thank you to everyone who has supported us on the journey. We couldn’t do it without you. Have a fabulous holiday. We look forward to seeing you back on Monday July 19.
Sincerely
Mark de Kluyver
Principal

TERM THREE IN SCHOOL
The spread of illness means we will proceed with caution, which I am sure, given this week, comes as no surprise. Hoping that there is no lockdown to greet us at the beginning of next term, we will continue with:
- Parents and Guardians welcome back on site
drop off of junior primary children (Prekindy, Kindy, Preprimary) at their classroom door
parent volunteers only in classes
1.5m social distancing between adults
advocacy for good hygiene practices
ensuring all adults and children who are unwell, are not at school.
Here’s hoping this will be all that we have to do! If there is any change we will be back in touch before term starts.

SCHOOL SNAPSHOT
2021 Holy Rosary Cross Country & Winter Sports
What a couple of weeks in sport at Holy Rosary. On Thursday June 17, all our Year 6 students competed in the CPSSA Winter sports Carnival. Holy Rosary took 1 football, 2 netball and 2 soccer teams to the event and what a day it was.
The Year 6 football team was undefeated on the day only conceding 4 goals in 6 matches. It was a simply unbelievable effort, and it was followed up with similar efforts from our netball and soccer teams. Overall, it was an amazing day, and I would like to thank our parent helpers and supervising teachers that worked so hard on the day but also helped train our wonderful Year 6 students.
On June 25th, all Year 3 to 6 students participated in the Holy Rosary Cross Country at Jackadder Lake. The sun came out on the day and everyone had a fantastic time sharing their love of running with everyone trying their very best. In the end Gold was too strong in a tight fought victory over Green.
I would like to thank all of the staff and parents that helped out on the day. I would also like to say a special thank you to Julie Catherall for all her efforts preparing the children through the Running Club this year it was a huge success with lots of engaged children.
We are now looking forward to the CPSSA Interschool Cross Country on July 27th more information to come about that event soon.
PASTORAL & STUDENT WELL-BEING NEWS
Another week of change can bring some uncertainty and worry for many. Here at HR, we have stayed calm, honest and supportive as we don our masks and go about our business. As holidays approach, connectedness with each other and taking a break from the news will be our biggest challenges so remember to plan fun breaks each day, even little things like a family movie, cooking, exercise, and to be super vigilant about online accessibility. It has been a long and busy term and there are so many wonderful resources out there but I particularly loved this one from Kids Helpline to help everyone really wind down, rest and enjoy the break:
And some support from WHO about helping kids who are feeling stressed about Covid:
Take good care, stay safe and happy holidays!

LIBRARY NEWS
The last week of term is always super exciting as the children fill their library bags with books to read in the holidays. NAIDOC week has been our focus this week – we have looked at some beautiful Indigenous art, listened to some amazing music and read some incredible stories. If you receive an overdue notice from your teacher, please look for the book over the holidays and return it first week back. Any lost or damaged books need to be replaced in order to continue borrowing into term 3. Don’t forget, the year 3s and up have the Wheelers ePlatform on their iPads so they can continue to read over the holidays if they finish their library books. This app looks like a white seagull on a blue square and they need their mathletics password to log in.
Parents are also most welcome to borrow a range of books from our Parent Library covering resilience/anxiety, parenting, cybersafety and puberty, amongst many others.
Have wonderful holidays!
