President's Message

Greetings to all world language educators and friends of the Foreign Language Council of San Diego and happy new school year to all of you. We hope this newsletter finds you well and thriving despite all the challenges (you rock!). This year, we are facing some challenges as we are in the midst of this ongoing pandemic. Please remember how important is the work that we do with our students. We are all experiencing something new and different this year. We need to remember to take a pause and breath! And remember we, world language educators, are in this together. As ACTFL recently suggested, “we need to strive for progress and not perfection.”

As we start the new school year, FLCSD will be offering a professional development opportunity designed for our new reality. The workshop will be held on Saturday, September 26th to support all language educators in this new journey. Our main focus will be on topics related to distance learning. We will be offering sessions for various languages such as ASL, Arabic, French, German, Italian, Hebrew, Filipino, Persian and Spanish. Our presenters from all over the country will be sharing best practices, technology tools and resources, as well as give participants time to share their own experiences in this new.

Looking forward to seeing all of you in our distance learning workshop.

We wish you a fantastic year.
