Fabulous Falcon Staff

We prepare students for success because we love kids, love FLE, and love our community.

Principal Letter

It’s great to be a Finger Lake Falcon! We have had some recent events that have been huge successes! First of all, this past Thursday night, Title 1 hosted a STEAM evening. Over 288 people signed in! We had a large crowd, a ton of fun, and gave away a big prize (a Moby Max tablet). We are thankful for our Title 1 program at FLE and all that those funds do to support extended learning activities for our students. Recently, we’ve been reminding families to complete the free/reduced meal application if they believe they would qualify. We did reach our goal and await final word from Federal Programs as to our qualifications for Title 1 funds next school year. Thank you to everyone who filled one out! Friday afternoon for the last 45 minutes of the school day, students celebrated their quarter 2 achievements. 63% (>104) of FLE intermediate students earned honor roll for quarter 2. We had nearly 50 students with perfect attendance for quarter 2! Six students were lucky enough to win the raffle for their hard work, discipline, and diligence in regularly coming to school and working so hard to grow their brains! I am extremely proud of all our students and their efforts to be the best they can! Students earning recognition should be coming home with certificates from our awards celebration in the next few days. Friday evening, 25 FLE students participated in the Orff Ensemble Festival of the Arts at CMS. This is Ms. Rentz 5th year taking students there. Last week was a great week! Please visit our website for up-to-date information on clubs, school hours, and other pertinent information. It’s a pleasure serving you!

AASB School Climate & Connectedness Survey

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District is partnering with the Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB) to conduct a survey of our students that measures school climate and student connectedness. The School Climate and Connectedness Survey (SCCS) will be administered to all students in grades 3-12. Certified staff, as well as support staff, will also participate in this survey. The MSBSD will administer the survey in all schools February 1 - February 12, 2016. The SCCS measures student and staff perceptions of school climate, how peers treat each other, observations of student behavior at school, and connections between school and the community. Positive school climate and student connectedness are associated with improved academic achievement and reduced risk behaviors.

Presidential Fitness Test

Coach Packer is having his students compete in the National Presidential Fitness Challenge this year. This gives our kids the opportunity to compare their level of fitness from all around the country. Coach Packer says, "So far our kids have competed in three of the four events and our scores are better than the national average in every category." He also said that the final measurement will be the One Mile Run and this will take place after break up.
