Dear Parents,

It is that time of year when we begin to think of the transition to summer, and the planning for next year. Part of this process often involves some farewells to staff members who are making other plans for the future. This year marks a big transition for many of our colleagues. Both Mrs. Walters and Mrs. Beck have decided to call it a career, retiring to the next phase of life. Mrs. Newhard has determined it best to support her family in the future, is resigning her position and will be moving to Arizona at some point. Mr. Tony, our longtime custodian, is also retiring after many years on the Snohomish custodial team. He is looking forward to long drives, well placed chips, and forgiving greens in the future. We all wish these people well after many years of service to the Totem Falls community.

Part of what is difficult each year is saying goodbye to people who have served our school well in a pinch. This year is particularly meaningful as we want to thank Ms. Kreft, Mrs. Lothyan, and Mrs. Bartelheimer who all took on long term subbing positions for highly respected Totem Falls teachers. They didn’t bat an eye as they worked with their students, supporting them well in the initial transition and through the rest of the school year.

Mr. Corwin took on a PE assignment that was very unclear initially, and made PE a meaningful experience as students socially distanced. We are hopeful he will find a permanent PE position for the fall. Everyone here has needed to bring flexibility to a new level and did so in spades with all the transitions associated with the pandemic. Thank you all for your service to our community, it was FANTASTIC!
