2nd Annual Mattress Fundraiser a Success!

Despite the snowstorm that blew in the day of the mattress sale, the band sold 18 mattresses and made $2000! Thank you to all of the students and parents who helped make the day a success by dancing on the streets in mattress costumes and having hot cocoa and coffee ready for everyone at the sale itself. And a really big thank you to everyone who purchased a mattress or had someone come in and make a purchase. We are only as successful as our band community and you all did a great job! This is definitely a tradition we will continue with more mattress sales in the future.

Please check Charms to make sure that your student's account is in good financial standing. All band & guard fees must be paid in full by December 18th!

The 6th grade band will perform first followed by the 7th & 8th grade band and then the HS band. The concert is free so please invite everyone to come out and celebrate the season with wonderful holiday music performed by Blanchard's great bands!

Breakfast with Santa Fundraiser on Saturday, December 13th

We are gearing up for the first Breakfast with Santa and it's shaping up to be great! Click here for a poster of the event, check it out on the band website, or have your student bring home a hard copy (or 2 or 3) so you can hang them up all around town, at work, at church, and more. Tickets are $5.00 and are available ahead of time from any HS band student or director or can also be purchased at the door. Parents are welcome to check out tickets as well. Tickets include an all you can eat pancake breakfast, a visit with Santa (pictures are $5.00), a Santa letter writing station, a coloring area, as well as numerous vendors on site with great gifts for the holidays! Santa will also be telling a story at 9:45am. The event runs from 8:00am-11:00am. This is going to be a great event for the entire family, so please spread the word and plan on joining us for a wonderful morning filled with smiles and memories!

Blanchard Christmas Parade

On the evening of December 13th the HS band will decorate themselves and a trailer and make their way down Main Street in the annual Christmas Parade! More detailed information regarding times will be sent out as soon as possible.

Spring Band Trip to Branson

The HS Band will travel to Branson the weekend of April 24th-26th. We will be visiting Silver Dollar City, Dixie Stampede, and much more! The boosters voted to pay for $59 of each student's trip making the price each student is responsible for $250. The trip will officially be on the school board agenda in January and the first payment ($90) will be due February 1st. A trip intent form will be sent home with more information very soon.

All fundraisers will be used to credit student's trip accounts, so please check on Charms to see if your student has already earned money and remember that Breakfast with Santa tickets earn your student $4 each!

We need chaperones! If you'd like to sign up, contact Ms. Kauffman. The cost for chaperones and extra family members is $309 per person. We're looking forward to a great weekend to celebrate a wonderful year and hope that everyone will be able to travel with us!

HS Band Students of the Month!!

Our Blanchard HS Band Students of the month for December are Courtney Clark & Brenna Moulton!

  • Courtney is a junior trumpet player and a member of the Band Leadership Council. She has been practicing and has done very well at honor band auditions, making it to the second round of OMEA All-State and earning 2nd chair in the SWOBDA All-Region Concert Honor Band! The improvement she has made on her instrument is steady and impressive. We look forward to you continuing your strong leadership role as a performer. Keep up the good work, Courtney!
  • Brenna is a sophomore oboe player, member of the Band Leadership Council, and also a member of the guard. It is very difficult to participate in the guard and keep up with playing your instrument because you have two things to practice and work on while everyone else has one. Brenna didn't let that stop her and has done incredibly well this year, even making second alternate for the OSSBDA All-State band! Thank you for being a great example and showing everyone that if you want to be talented and successful, a little hard work goes a long way. We are so proud of you, Brenna!

How to get credit for your monthly newsletter grade! Due by Monday, December 15th!

The purpose of the monthly newsletter is to make sure that students and parents are all on the same page and know about all band activities. To get credit, a parent needs to send an email to Ms. Kauffman that has the following info: student name, grade, parent name, and that the newsletter has been read. This earns you 100%! If you don't have the ability to email, please read the newsletter online and send a written note to school with the same information (though we REALLY prefer online responses if at all possible).

Remember, newsletters are only accepted during the month of the newsletter. Once the month has passed, that newsletter can no longer be submitted.
