Wk 10 Term 3 - Week Commencing Monday 19th September 2022
Public Holiday & Pupil Free Day
On Sunday our Prime Minister, Mr Anthony Albanese announced that Thursday, 22 September, will be a National Public Holiday to observe a national day of mourning in honour of the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Term 3 will now conclude on Wednesday 21st September at 3pm with the public holiday on Thursday 22nd September and a Pupil Free Day on Friday 23rd September. Term 4 will begin on Monday 10th October.
House Athletics Carnival
Well done to all students for their fantastic efforts in the carnival today. It was great to see all our Kindy to Year 6 students get involved in the day and to all try their best. We will publish all Carnival results in the reminders next week. Thank you to all who helped in the organisation and running of the day, especially Mr Davis, Mr A, Mr Cogger, the P& F and all staff. A special thank you to the families who stayed back to help pack up, the Dobkowski, Taylor, Baker, Grima, Wallace, Chow, Massimini and Lawrence families.
Thank you to all families who attended the Open Night on Wednesday. As our first Open night for the year, it was great to open up our classrooms to families and showcase the teaching and learning to all. A big thank you to all the staff who worked so hard to make the evening a success.
A big congratulations to Mr Aaron Kubicek, our Digital Technologies teacher, and his wife Kshaan on the birth of their second child. Zahli Mila was born on Tuesday 13/9, a baby sister to Toby. Mum, bub, brother and father doing well, everyone is happy, and safe and Zahli only cries when she is hungry or wet.
This weekend our Year 6 students and families will be celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday night and Sunday morning. This is a very special time for our students as this Sacrament brings so much goodness to their lives.
Mission Mass/Footy Colours Day
We will celebrate our Mission Mass at 9am on Wednesday 21st September. All students can come to school dressed in the colours of their favourite football/sporting team for a gold coin donation that will go to the Missions and Fight Cancer Foundation.
P & F Colour Run
Next week, the P & F will send a sponsor sheet home with each child for the colour run on Friday 21st October. More information will be in the Weekly Reminders next week.
Year 3 and Year 5 NAPLAN results will be going home on Monday. For students, NAPLAN is a short assessment they take only four times during their whole school life. For parents, NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment for seeing how their child, compared with the rest of Australia’s children, is progressing in the fundamental skills of literacy and numeracy. The information NAPLAN provides, supports conversations between parents, teachers and schools working together to help children achieve their full potential.
Families leaving next year
If your family will be leaving our school community in 2023 you are asked to please let us know by emailing the Office and/or leadership as soon as possible. Many thanks, as this assists us to plan and offering places to new families on the waitlist. Please be reminded that unless we are given one full term's notice of an intention to leave St Emilie's, a family will be charged a full term's school fees.
Year 1 in 2023 Uniform
We encourage our PP families to begin the process of getting ready for our school uniform in 2023. The contact details and opening times for Image Embroidery are at the bottom of the Weekly Reminders.
Below is a link to a document that explains our position on class placement here at St Emilie's. Please read it carefully when you have a moment - we hope it brings further clarity to why we feel confident in our decision-making. In saying this, if you wish to make a request please place it in writing to the Principal at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 28th October.
Positive COVID Cases
If your child tests positive to COVID, please ensure that you enter the result on the CEWA portal and also on the Health Department.

COVID-19 SYMPTOMS POST INITIAL POSITIVE RESULT
When an individual receives a COVID-19 positive result, the individual is deemed by WA Health unlikely to suffer from re-infection for a period of 4 weeks. Therefore, further Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) testing when subsequently unwell is not required during this time, as a COVID-19 positive result may be returned throughout this period while the initial virus is being shed.
However, where a person is unwell within their 4-week period and are showing symptoms of COVID-19, WA Health reiterate that the impacted person should remain home until symptoms subside, particularly where symptoms are respiratory in nature (e.g. productive cough).
All unwell COVID-19 symptomatic students should remain home and refrain from coming to school.
