Liberty Parent Update
Liberty Elementary - Keller ISD
School Hours
School hours are 7:55 - 3:10. Students will be considered tardy if they are not in their classroom at 7:55 a.m.
Beginning this week, students who are not in class at 7:55 a.m. will be given a tardy pass in the office.
If your child is absent, please send all absent notes to the office or email them to kelly.worthy@kellerisd.net
Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
Arrival:
- Please do not let your child out at the first crosswalk in the driveway. There are no adults in this area to help cross students or get them out of cars. Please have them wait in your car until you get to the crosswalk closer to the school. Look for the unloading signs to begin letting your child out of the car.
- Whichever lane you are driving in, please have your child exit to the sidewalk. Exiting to the center lane is a safety hazard for our kids.
- Please stay in your cars, we are outside to assist students out of cars. This also helps the arrival line move quickly if parents stay in cars.
Dismissal
- Have your car signs ready. Either in the front for pick up or the carpool tag in the back.
- Pull up close behind the car in front of you as you line up. This allows more cars in the drive and less cars on McDonwell School Road.
- Use the drive through lane in the front to exit quicker. Be mindful of other cars and kids…but this is a great way to pick up and go.
- Please stay in your cars, we will assist students getting into cars. This also helps the dismissal line move quicker if drivers stay in cars.

Helping Hurricane/Flood Victims
It has been devastating to watch what is going on in South Texas. Many of our students, parents and staff have asked what we can do to help as a school.
Last year with the flooding in Louisiana, we adopted a school to help them with their needs. They ended up needing gift cards to places to eat or stores like Home Depot.
I have been in contact with a principal in Friendswood. Her new building was set to open this week instead it is flooded. I asked her if we could partner with them to help. She said yes and is currently assessing the situation and will get back with us on what they need and when.
As soon as I know what the specific needs are of the school and community, we will reach out to our Liberty Family with the details of what we can do to help their school community.
KHS Homecoming: Drop the Mum-Close the Gap
Keller High Homecoming is right around the corner on September 15th.
This year a former Liberty Eagle & current Keller high senior, Allie Weik, is teaming up with Keller Community Storehouse in order to raise funds to close the gap between opportunity and excellence directly impacting the community of Keller.
The idea is simple: instead of making a mum or garter this homecoming, she is selling Drop the Mums t-shirts for $25 and all proceeds will go directly to the Keller Community Storehouse. If you are interested in purchasing a shirt, email susan.weik@kellerisd.net
Shirt sizes are Adult S- XL only.
FYI - KHS Homecoming Parade is set for September 11th at 6:30 p.m. Liberty will walk and throw out candy during the parade. Come join us and wear a Drop the Mum tshirt or a Liberty tshirt.
Morning Meetings
You might have heard a little about Morning Meetings this school year. These meetings are held each morning in our building in every class.
Morning meetings are a great way to build community, set a positive tone, increase excitement about learning, and improve academic and social skills.
Morning meeting takes between twenty and thirty minutes. The teacher and students gather in a circle and work on greeting one another in a friendly cheerful manner. Students have a share time, participate in a cooperative game such as a math review game. Then, the daily morning message is reviewed. This helps to set the day for the kids as they think about their own learning for the day.
Every day, Morning Meeting lets children know the school is a safe place where all children’s feelings and ideas are important. We hope throughout the year you see positive changes in your child as they experience the benefits of our Morning Meetings.
