SCC Missions
Closing 2018 with a Quick Recap:
Your Missions Team had a very eventful year in 2018. A new Missions Committee was created, elected, and approved by council to develop a policy and procedures manual and to manage and create the overall Missions Budget, with all recommendations then going for approval by your Council. Our Missions Team was expanded to include 10 to 12 Ambassadors responsible for maintaining monthly communication and relationships with 3 to 5 of our Missions Partners or Missionaries each. Finally our Missions Pastor, Brad Livermon was called by God to move on to a new path and has been missed so much.
In the wake of all of that change, we kept trusting God to provide the provision for our vision that was inspired by Him through prayer. We saw Jesus do mighty things through the giving that came from you, our Church Body. We ended the year with $922,361 in giving from our members, that was then sent out to our 40 Missions Partners and Missionaries, to do the work God has chosen for them to do, here in our town, county, country and around the world.
We, our Church Body and your Missions Team witnessed children being reunited with families after years of care in foster homes where they came to know Jesus, were baptized and then brought their Mom and brothers to Christ who then became baptized. We had single moms mentored and prayed for to. We provided a helping hand to those in need, preventing a young single mother from losing her children and being evicted from her apartment, another had her electric bill paid and her electricity turned back on, a single mother who came to us homeless was provided a place to stay until she was able to get back on her feet and provide for her family again. Young mothers choose life for their unborn babies instead of abortion. In Haiti we helped our partner literally save hundreds of young children from starving to death, then mentoring to the parents to help prevent it from happening again. We fed thousands of children in need both locally and globally. We saw our partner in South America have their 20,000th child come to Christ. There were special needs adults, given a 4 day camp that was fun with some coming to Christ. Orphans in Honduras housed, loved and cared for. We witnessed young 12 year old girls being rescued and taken from their abductors, where they had been drugged, beaten and raped hundreds of times. These precious young children were then provided a safe home to be ministered to, prayed and loved on to begin the long journey to just being a child again. This is only made possible by the hope and power of Jesus. There were men and women who defeated the chains of addiction and began new lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. We sent teams to help those who lost everything in hurricane Michael, sent $31,000 to a Church where members lost everything in the fires of CA. The Gospel message was spread to jungles and unreached people groups where whole villages decided to get baptized and came to Christ. Our Missionaries are bringing the Word of God to Vietnam, Italy, Finland, Moldova, Jordan, Haiti, Guatemala, Brazil, Cuba, Dominica Republic, Honduras, Peru, Mexico, Thailand, China, Papa New Guinea, Myanmar, Russia and the hundreds of people groups in Atlanta, to refugees who have legally come to our country. This is Missions. This is what you support when you put Missions in the remarks section of your check.
Thank you so much for being our partners in your giving to Missions, helping our Missions Team go and through our Partners, be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Your Missions Committee, Team and Partners are all so thankful for your help on 2018 and so excited to see what God has in store for all of us in 2019.

Sanibel Community Church to Host Night to Shine Prom for People with Special Needs on February 8 - Sponsored by Tim Tebow Foundation
Sanibel Community Church has been selected by the Tim Tebow Foundation to be a host site for its annual “Nite to Shine” event which will take place on February 8, 2019. Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older, hosted by local Churches in all 50 states and across the globe all on one night. SCC is excited to be a part of this worldwide movement that God is using as a catalyst to change how culture embraces people with special needs and to rally the Church worldwide to stand up for those who are differently-abled. As guests are dining, dancing, enjoying karaoke, being crowned, their family/caregivers are receiving a meal and enjoying a respite in the SCC Fellowship Hall while the event is being live streamed. Tim Tebow himself will stream a scripture based message to all locations during the evening.

Monthly Missions Highlights
Every month we feature one of our mission partners in our Monthly Missions Highlight (MMH). This is a way for us to expose some of the ministries that we regularly support and present an opportunity for the congregation to assist directly in helping us reach our financial commitments to the highlighted ministry. The totals below include the month the ministry was highlighted and any additional funds given since then.

Middle Ground - January Monthly Mission Highlight of 2019
For families in the trenches of malnutrition and poverty the journey from where they are to where they desire to be is filled with obstacles that seem impossible to overcome. In 2018, transitioned from Espwa Berlancia into what is now Middle Ground, to love generously and graciously as we walk alongside families on the road to recovery and sustainability. SCC Missions Team’s goal is to raise $60,000 in January to send to Middle Ground. Join us in this fight for life.
