Making Turkeys in Preschool

Our little preschool friends had no shortage of things to say on their turkey feathers as they helped construct a group project giving thanks and sharing their thoughts about Thanksgiving.

Disguised Turkeys and More in Second Grade

Students in Mrs. Arpide and Mrs. Jones' second grade classes have been busy learning about the pilgrims, the first Thanksgiving, reflecting on what they are thankful for, and for some added fun disguising turkeys!

Student Council Food Drive is a Success

On Wednesday, November 25th, an appreciative representative from the Athol Salvation Army came to collect non-perishable food items donated during our food drive. The Salvation Army will put this food to good use helping families in need within our community. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this effort.

Some Fantastic Reading Museum Projects Arrived this Week!

Thank you, thank you to our school friends and their families who took time to be creative and to make a reading museum project to share at school. Our lobby display case looks amazing! A reading museum project can be anything that your son or daughter wants to do or to make that was inspired by reading. Reading museum projects are just one of the many ways we are celebrating family literacy. Pictured to the right is Nathan with a diorama project inspired by the Captain Underpants series.

New Childrens' Librarian Visits Preschool

Angela Dumas, the new Children's Librarian at the Athol Public library recently visited the preschool in the Athol Royalston Regional School District to read, sing and do a craft, all elements of her own storytime at the library. She was one of several community helpers that visited as part of the preschool's study of Community Helpers. Pictured with Ms. Dumas are Robert, Noah, Logan, and Emma.

You are invited to join our School Wide "Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive"

Dear Parents,

It’s time for the annual Scholastic Reading Club Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive benefitting Pajama Program, a nonprofit organization that provides new pajamas and books to children in need—especially those living in group homes, shelters, foster care, and orphanages. Since 2009, caring classrooms across the country have risen to the challenge and donated nearly 350,000 pairs of new pajamas. The Scholastic Reading Club has more than matched those numbers with nearly 700,000 new books donated directly to Pajama Program headquarters, where they are then distributed across the country by Pajama Program. Mrs. St. Jean's third grade class will be leading Pleasant Street School's Pajama drive campaign so we can help make a better bedtime for these children. Together we can help the Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive reach even more kids with pj’s and books. If you and your child are able to participate, please have your child bring in a new pair of pajamas to school by .

Here are some simple guidelines for the pajamas:

  • Pajamas must be brand-new.
  • Pajamas in all sizes are needed—from newborn to adult.
  • Pajamas must be in complete sets or nightgowns.
  • Pajamas in children’s sizes must be manufactured as pajamas—this ensures that they are flame-retardant and safe.
  • All donations must be received by December 18, 2015.

Thank you for helping us share the gift of a good night’s sleep and a sweet bedtime story. To find out more about the drive and the program at:
