Talk About...

11th February 2014

Last Week......

This week the weather has not been on our side, but the children have continued to have great fun outside in the rain every day. Welly boots and waterproofs have seen great use this week !! If your child does not have wet weather gear at school, please could you bring this in as soon as possible.

Outside at the moment the sun is shining, so lets hope next week it continues......

Last Friday saw "Miraikers World of Puppets" visit the school. Miraiker spent the morning with the children showing and talking to them all about puppets. The children then spent time making their own puppets.

This event cost £4 per child and has been taken out of the trips and activities money. If you have not topped up this pot, please could you send in £4 as soon as possible, Many Thanks.

This Friday we will be having an Olympic theme for the day - watch this space for some fun activities !!!! Please could all children bring a donation of 50p as we are having a visitor who carried the olympic torch come and talk to the children and we would like to support his charities with a small donation.

Kayleigh has been working hard today to introduce the Outdoor free flow play area for Dragonflies. This will be along the side of the portacabins and will enable the children to extend their learning outdoors...whatever the weather !!!

This area is for Dragonflies learning and is an extension of their indoor classroom. It may have toys in, and could be tempting for siblings to play with whilst waiting for pickup. Please can you not let siblings disturb the outdoor area. Thank you. This area will be open from 9am every day, so it is essential that the main red gate is closed by 9am as all of the Dragonflies will be allowed outside in this area. Registration in all classes is 8.50am so this allows time for the car park to be emptied and the gate closed by 9am.

You may have also noticed that your child has some different words on rings in their reading bag. These will either be sight words or spellings to learn. Please take time to learn these with your children and send them back to school every day in their reading bags as they need to be shared within the class. Please ask Kayleigh or Kristie if you need any more information on these.

Grasshoppers and Fireflies

Both classes have been continuing to work hard on their Creation Stories, Please remind children to bring them into school because Sarah Jenkins who helps in Fireflies is looking into publishing our own book. very exciting.......

Assembly and Great lesson

Assembly the week was about being happy....Ask your children to sing you the song ????

The Great Lesson was all about the beginning of numbers.

Odds and Ends

Car parking - As you may have noticed over the last couple of days, Tom is no longer monitoring the car park. He will only be helping on Fridays when we have Friday singing. The only difference that you will notice is the gate will now be opened at 3.15pm and not 3pm. Please continue to drive with caution when you are on the school drive way and playground. A huge thank you to Tom for all his help, but we will still see him on a Friday !

Facebook - For those that have not had a look - we now have a facebook page regularly updated with information. (no photos of children will be shown). Please "like" the page and invite others to do the same.

* * * 100 Days of School - Tomorrow * * *

Tomorrow we will be celebrating 100 days of school with some great activities.

Please remind your children to bring in 100 of something or something that has 100 in it somewhere - They must be able to carry it !!!!!
