Holly Academy News & Views
September 2, 2021
We have had an amazing first week! Our Huskies have been busy acclimating to the new school year and have been trained in our expectations, routines, and procedures. It has been such a pleasure to see our classrooms full, and students excited to learn! Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. It's great to be a Husky!
Thank you
Picture Day
Picture Day is Thursday, September 9th. You should have received a Skyward communication from your child's homeroom teacher with the link to the online payment system. If you have any questions, please contact the homeroom teachers.
Food Service News
If your child(ren) will be having breakfast at school, please ensure they are in their classroom by 7:45am. In the event that they do not arrive in time to eat their breakfast before the school day begins at 8:00am, they will have the opportunity to finish their breakfast during their class snack time.
Middle School students that ordered breakfast will need to go to their homeroom class to pick up their breakfast and will then go to their first hour to eat breakfast before 8:00am.
If your child is quarantined and you ordered meals, you are still eligible to receive those meals. Please email Angie Cryderman at crydermana@hollyacademy.org if you would like to arrange pick-ups for meals.
Due to supply chain issues, our vendor had to make the following menu changes for next week:
Tuesday, 9/7/21
Breakfast: Butterscotch Bar changed to Trix Cereal Bar
Lunch: Turkey and Cheese Sub changed to 1 pizza slice (there will not be additional slices available)
If you ordered for these days and your child does not like the new menu choices, please send food with your child for these meals.
Monday, September 13th, is our Virtual Curriculum Night. Teachers will present an overview of their curriculum during a 20 minute session. For families with multiple Huskies, sessions will be repeated. You will receive zoom links from grade levels and specials teachers next week. Please mark your calendars for the 13th from 5:30-7:30pm.
Sessions will be scheduled as follows:
5:30 - 5:50 grade level sessions
5:55 - 6:15 PE/music/computers AND Spanish/science
6:20 - 6:40 grade level sessions
6:45 - 7:05 PE/music/computers AND Spanish/science
7:10 - 7:30 grade level sessions
Dare to be remarkable, Huskies!
Morning Drop off and Afternoon Dismissal
DROP OFF:
Please remember that when you are dropping off your Huskies in the morning, to wait for the crosswalk adults to give you a thumbs up before you move forward. We ask that you slow down through the parking lot, as there are children exiting vehicles. Students need to follow the yellow lines to the crosswalk area. Do not cut in between vehicles. Please do not utilize the bypass lane in front of the main building unless you are directed to do so.
MIDDLE SCHOOL DROP OFF:
If you are dropping off at the middle school, please be aware there is only one lane where students may exit their vehicle. This is the lane closest to the building. Pulling forward to just past the sidewalk allows for five vehicles to unload at a time.
HELPFUL HINTS:
Please have your Husky ready to exit the car when you pull into the drop off lanes.
If possible, middle schoolers should exit from the passenger side of the vehicle only. If younger children need assistance getting out of the vehicle, please use the lane closest to the building and exit them on the driver's side.
DISMISSAL
Thank you for your patience with the dismissal process this week. We have many new and returning Husky families, and it simply takes time to get all of our families trained in the process. We safely dismiss over six hundred students through the car lines each day. It is critical that you follow all of the expectations during the dismissal process.
These expectations include:
- No cell phone use
- No smoking
- Turn on your right blinker when you have your car loaded
- Please stay in your lane
- Staff will direct you to move forward or exit the parking lot
- Be sure your sign is clearly displayed
- Train your Husky to know the color and make of your vehicles.
