St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 3 | 28 OCTOBER 2021
Lord God almighty, bless our grandparents with long life, happiness, and health.
May they remain constant in your love and be living signs of your presence
to their children and grandchildren.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
From the Principal
Dear St Columba’s school community,
I am sure that you will agree with me that the weather this week has been less than enjoyable. I am praying very hard for some sunshine to warm us all up!
This term our Year Three students are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation which will be held on Saturday November 13, beginning at 10am. A big thank you to Mrs Fran Poole and Mrs Gemma Lucas for facilitating the Reconciliation Parent Meeting on Monday night and assisting Monsignor O’Loughlin and the parish. From all accounts the meeting was very informative and well supported by parents. A reminder that the Reconciliation Retreat will be on Monday November 1 with the 24:7 Retreat Team. Please keep our candidates in your thoughts as they prepare for this Sacrament.
Tomorrow is Grandparents Day, and I am looking forward to welcoming all our wonderful grandparents to the school. The Pre-Primary students have been busy preparing a lovely assembly item to share with the whole school and I know everyone will enjoy visiting the classrooms before morning tea in the Kalyara Mia. Grandparents Day is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions grandparents make to support our families and shape the young people in our school. It is a day to connect with our loved ones and celebrate what they mean to us! Happy Grandparents Day! To all our staff who are Grandparents we would also like to wish them a very Happy Grandparents Day!
A reminder that when Kiss and Drive is operating, no one is permitted to be walking through to collect children. This is a safety issue and one that can be avoided if the rules are followed. Please use the side gates off Alexandra Street to enter the school grounds. I have asked staff to monitor this closely.
Last weekend, Mr Leigh Chatt and his wife welcomed a beautiful baby girl to their growing family. As a school community we congratulate them and wish them all the best for the future! To follow on from this exciting news (it must be the year for it), I am thrilled to announce that Mrs Alison Brine and her husband Edward are also expecting their first child in 2022. Congratulations to them!
Finally, I would like to inform the school community that Mrs Antoinette Buiks will be leaving St Columba’s at the end of 2021. On behalf of everyone, I take this opportunity to thank her for everything she has done for the school community over the past few years and wish her all the best in her next teaching adventure.
Tomorrow is World Teachers' Day! We thank our teachers for the big contribution they make to shaping young people's lives.
Wishing everyone a relaxing weekend.
God Bless
Rebecca Clarke
