Communications Change: Please Read
The past two years, we have found text messaging to be a very effective and quick way of notifying you of school issues affecting your student(s). Due to our current system, School Reach, being acquired by School Messenger, we are forced to make an immediate system change. Consequently, your permission is needed to continue text notification. Please note that weather information will continue to be provided through local media sources; other emergency information will be provided to building specific individuals first via text, voice systems, and e-mail. Public information will continue to be available as actual facts are confirmed.
The directions to complete the process to opt-in and receive the text messages can be found below. Please follow the instructions so the communication services are not interrupted. We sent a test message via the phone, email, and text messaging systems on Wednesday, January 6. If you did NOT receive the messages, please log into your Parent Portal and make any necessary changes. If there are no changes to be made and you didn't receive the messages, please call and let us know so we can fix the problem. If you have questions of any kind, please call 573-590-8000 and ask for Karen. You can also send an email to ksnethen@fulton58.org
Instructions to Opt-In:
To opt-in and receive Fulton Public Schools alerts, please text Y, YES, or OPTIN to 67587 on your cellular device or HELP for information. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency will vary.
If you haven't completed this process, please do so. You will NOT receive text messages from FPS until you do so, however, you will receive a phone message and an email. The new system is effective on Monday, January 11, 2016.
Thank you so much for your time in completing this important process.
A message from the Superintendent
Dear Families and Patrons,
The second half of the school year has begun. Perhaps as you review this Focus you will also be reviewing your student’s academic report for the last grading period. Optimistically, your student has met their personal and your academic expectations. Take a few minutes to discuss the report with your student. If he/she has met your expectations, great! If not, feel free to contact the appropriate teacher or principal for improvement strategies.
All through the year our faculty and coaches assist students with positive behavior in the classroom and in activities. Currently, we have received two significant notices from the Missouri High School Activities Association. The first was negative concerning our fans threatening behavior toward game officials; which has been addressed with offending individuals. The second came from a game official regarding the boys Boonville vs Fulton Basketball game. “Coaches, players & fans were respectful & displayed good sportsmanship throughout a tightly contested game. On a couple of occasions during the game the players from each team helped the other players up off the floor when they had fallen to the court. As an official it is always nice to be involved in this type of game.” Needless to say, this message has been communicated to the team and shared with other FHS teams. From my chair I am proud of both teams and fans; the game was intense.
Following this note is a Sportsmanship Flyer that is periodically distributed at Hornet games.
Thank you for sending great kids for us to work with.
Respectfully,
Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Snow Routes Revisited
You can access the snow route information from our website at http://www.fulton58.org/vnews/display.v/ART/51c310d9c8f7c
Here are some additional points on snow routes as we approach the winter season:
- Snow routes will be implemented once the main roads are deemed impassable.
- Snow routes may be needed due to significant accumulation where crews are unable to clear bus turn-arounds, cul-de-sacs, and other treacherous areas.
- Buses may be as much as 15 minutes early or late to any bus stop. Please dress students appropriately for the weather in preparation for longer than normal wait times.
- When snow routes are running, they will run for both AM and PM routes.
- You will receive a call, email, and/or text from FPS regarding school cancelation or the running of snow routes. This information will also be posted on the website at www.fulton58.org, and on the FPS Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Fulton-Public-Schools-298183414812/ and recorded on the school information line--573-590-8014.
- Please log into your Parent Portal if you need to update your email address or phone number to ensure you receive important information from Fulton Public Schools.
As always, if you have questions please call the Transportation office at 573-590-8020 or Central Office at 573-590-8000.
