Friday Family Message
Hello Families!
Today we are launching a brief survey to gather as many voices, opinions, and thoughts from throughout the community that will help us plan for and prioritize for the years ahead.
In addition to sparing a few moments to take the survey, please share the link widely throughout the community. The more responses, the better!
The survey should take about 10 minutes, and all results will be anonymous.
Again, please share the link with your friends and neighbors who may not receive communication from us.
Winter athletes cap amazing seasons
Congratulations to all the Spartan winter sports athletes! Not only did teams and individuals make memorable runs in postseason play, all winter teams earned the WIAA Scholastic Award, based on the varsity team’s average GPA from fall semester.
Among the many, many highlights:
Boys wrestling finished third place as a team at Mat Classic — a school record — after winning the regional tournament. Coach Ray Mather also earned the WIAA 3A Wrestling Coach of the Year award.
Girls basketball plays at 8 a.m. Saturday in the 4th/6th place game at the state championships in the Tacoma Dome.
Seven winter athletes have signed letters of intent to continue sports at colleges across the country!
Be sure to follow Stanwood Spartan Athletics on Twitter and Facebook for updates throughout the school year.
Congratulations to everyone!
Don’t miss the SHS musical comedy
Stanwood High School presents "Once Upon A Mattress," a musical comedy based on a book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer. The Broadway play was written as a humorous adaptation of the 1835 Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale "The Princess and the Pea."
The fall play starts at 7 p.m. on March 10-11 and 17-18 at the new Stanwood High Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available at the door: $10 for adults and $8 for students.
SHS principal update
This week’s snow forced a change of plans. You can now meet and ask questions to the finalists for Stanwood High School principal at a community forum on Monday.
The candidate forum is open to everyone and begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 6, in the Commons at Stanwood High School. A link to video of the event will be posted online via the district website and social media channels after the event.
Finalists will then return to the district for interviews on March 7. An announcement on the new principal is then tentatively scheduled for March 10.
