HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 2 Week 6 Friday 28 May
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Today’s reflection is both challenging and inspiring. Dana Robert gives us pause for thought, encouraging us to continue the work of Jesus to build community, as you can see in the Year 4 MJR tree. Long may it continue.
This week’s Musica Viva concerts, and today’s Year Four assembly, together with the interschool swimming carnival, and Confirmation on Saturday night sees our community celebrating artistically, sportingly and spiritually - and that is a lot worth celebrating! Congratulations to everyone involved.
Have a great weekend.
Gastro remains a concern. Apart from being horrible, gastro is often misunderstood, children look like they have recovered, and some are returned to school the following day. However if they return before they have been clear of symptoms for 48 hours, they can still infect others. This includes children as well as teachers and assistants. When that happens we have to engage relief staff, and so on. Please be vigilant in your management of a child who has gastro, and hopefully we can be more successful at keeping clear of it.

SCHOOL CLOSES 3.20pm #3
Apart from organised sport on site, no other people should be here after that time. The grounds are licenced to Discovery Kids, after 3.30. We are blessed with so many amazing public spaces nearby that, should families wish to arrange extended play, they have lots of choice!
A massive thanks to the awesome people at St John’s WA who have supplied Holy Rosary with a new Defibrillator through the Heart Grant initiative. Earlier in the year we applied for the grant and were successful. The Defib is located on the wall of the gym outside the staff carpark and faces towards Williamstown Road. The Defib is registered through the St John’s First Responder app and is accessible to the greater community. A great addition to the school!

The rumours are true! A NEW PLAYGROUND IS IN THE MAKING!
Our P&F have been working hard to build the kids a BIG new playground area to flow on from the existing nature strip on the upper oval.
The 2 stage design includes:
- a huge rope arch for climbing/swinging
- monkey bars
- obstacle climbing web
- suspension bridges
- 2 tier fort built into the treetops with rope climbing tube
- flying fox
- and a slide to conquer all
A project like this is worth doing right and we are so very close to hitting the start button! We just need to secure the final bit of funding. If all goes well we may even be able to begin Stage 1 before Term 2 comes to an end.
HOW CAN YOU HELP GET THE PROJECT UNDERWAY?... Please buy 1 or 2 copies of the cookbook. All proceeds are funding the playground build.
We’ve heard nothing but positive feedback about the cookbook since its release at the start of May. It’s beautifully printed, the recipes are delish and images gorgeous. Buy one as a gift or a keepsake your families will use and love for years to come.
OUR GOAL - We have 300 copies left to sell and have just over 300 families at the school. If everyone could purchase just 1 more copy we’ll get there!
- Make sure you have at least 1 for your family
- Buy 1 as a gift
- Ask friends or family member if they would like to buy one
Purchase online at:
Orders can be collected from the school office, locally delivered or posted directly to your home.
Should friends or family wish to order a copy please feel free to share the link above.
The P&F would also like to take the opportunity to thank the Holy Rosary family behind the construction and design of the playground – Claire Hutchinson and Tim Irving @ www.down2earthplaygrounds.com.au – Tim has gone above and beyond and taken ‘mates rates’ to a new level.
Thank you, your support is greatly appreciated.

Book Fair totals have come through and I am thrilled to let you know that we received over $500 worth of books, $150 worth of library equipment and just over $1600 to spend on dyslexia readers, lego and new games for when our makerspace reopens as well as more books!! Thank you again to everyone who supported the Fair.
Finally, we send big birthday wishes to our dear Sr Eileen for her birthday today! Sr Eileen is such a treasure to us but especially in the library and we are very blessed to have her here at HR. Thank you Sr.
