Did you know?
The Grade 4 Farewell and year end mass was beautiful. Thanks to everyone that came and to all the staff and students who celebrated together as a school community.
On Monday, June 20 at 3:10 pm, we expect the arrival of our new donated tank for watering the garden! We are looking for a few strong people to help us take it off the back of a truck and put it on the garden box. If there are a few parents who could help us move the tank, we will be happy to take advantage of your strength.
Please check the photos below for any Lost & Found items that you may be missing. If you see something that belongs to your child, they can pick it up at school or feel free to contact the school office.
Classes for 2022 - 2023
Many professional considerations are taken into account when determining optimal learning environments for all students for the next school year. At OLA, staff work diligently every day to build connections and foster relationships with ALL students, regardless of class, they are all "our kids" and this makes transitioning so much easier. Every child is a part of the community and not just one homeroom. Students next year will continue to be part of grade level teams, loved and supported by all OLA staff.
On Thursday, June 23rd, students will have the opportunity to connect with their next year's classmates and teachers.
The students will learn:
- What door they are coming in next year and where their classroom will be
- Who will be in their classroom community next year
- That half of their class will be coming for staggered entry on August 30th, the other half on August 31st and the whole class community will be together on Thursday, September 1st
On Wednesday, June 22 at 3:30 pm, your child's "home base" with be shared via PowerSchool. What is important to know is that while your child will have a home base teacher placement, they will be a part of team, which will also include our Student Support team.
Students' Home Base placement for the 2022-2023 school year will be available in the Powerschool Parent Portal. *This is only applicable to current students in K-3 at OLA(this does not apply to students coming from other schools or grade fours heading to SJPII).
To see your child's "homebase" placement for next year:
Login into PowerSchool Parent Portal
Click on child's name tab at the top of the page
Click on "Additional Resources" in the left hand column
Click on "Next Year Placements"
Repeat for each child.
Thank you for connecting with your child in ways that
set them up for positive transitions next year and for your continued trust in all we do.

Make "Thyme" for Gardening
"Lettuce" be thankful to the grade 1P, 2K and 4K classes for planting our gardens this year. This is a big "dill" as our plan is to make soup and provide students with healthy snacks (carrots) in the fall. This year we have carrots, beets, potatoes, radishes, a few yellow beans, and a little lettuce. We might be able to squeeze in some herbs, as well.
We are looking for 8 volunteer families to water our gardens over the summer. For one week of watering, you will also get to take home any produce that won't make it to the fall, or anything that replenishes itself through the summer. A filled water tank and watering cans will be there for your use.
What do you get to take home?
1. radishes: early July
2. yellow beans: July
3. beet leaves: August
4. lettuce and herbs: all summer
Thank you for signing up on our Gardening/watering document. It "beans" so much to the students in the fall when they get to eat what they planted.
