Furloughed employees or employees that are required to work without pay as a result of the federal government shutdown are considered to be experiencing a change in economic circumstances. Please remember that once eligibility is determined, that determination remains in effect for the remainder of the school year unless an updated application is submitted.

Meet Our Staff! All of our teachers at LVMS are amazing and we want you to get to know them a little bit better! Each week we will interview two staff members with some basic questions as well as some questions that were requested by students.
Lisa Weaver, Special Education Teacher’s Assistant
Where are you originally from?
Dallas, Texas
What led you to want to be in education? How long have you been in education?
I stayed home with my children to raise them and be with them, so when they started school, it seemed logical that the best way to be near and involved with them was to get involved with the school system. I already had my teaching degree (from my former life before children ) so I started on the substitute list. The best of both worlds! Involved in their schools - available for their schedules!! I did that for about 12 years and then after both had graduated, went full time here at the Middle School, which was about 3 years ago. I have had a blessed life!!
Tell us about your family.
I have been married to my wonderful, supportive husband Scott for 32 1/2 yrs. We have 2 beautiful children, Brittany and Taylor. Brittany graduated from UT in 2013, with a degree in Radio, Television & Film and now works for Netflix in Los Angeles, CA. Taylor WILL be graduating from UT in May with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and will be moving to Washington, DC for employment. I am also very fortunate to still have my sweet lil 88 yr old mother and enjoy spending as much time as I can with her!!
What are your favorite hobbies?
My hobbies include traveling with my husband, working puzzles with our children, cake making, performing/singing in anything and everything I can and I am the self-appointed party/theater trip planner among my circle of friends.
What do you enjoy most about theater?
I think what I enjoy most about theater is the ability to transform myself into someone or something that I am not, that is sometimes so different from my normal self. Then you are constantly challenged to take that which you have created and use it to magically transport an audience to somewhere they have never been before or perhaps never even dreamed of before. When you are successful, it is a feeling like no other!!!
What is your favorite play you've ever been a part of?
My favorite play is usually the one I am working on at the time! But I do have a special place in my heart for the last character I played, Sara Lee, in “Daddy’s Dyin’, Who’s Got the Will” and Miss Hannigan in “Annie”.
What is your favorite food?
Always has been, is and always will be Mexican Food, first and foremost!! Followed by anything that is well prepared and delicious! I am Italian, after all!!
Carla Wiechman, Art Teacher
Where are you originally from?
I am from Dallas.
What led you to want to be in education? How long have you been in education?
Originally, my major in College was in Art. When my son was born I had to change careers so that I could cover his medical cost and I knew teaching would not be enough funds. I started teaching art when my son was around three. He had multiple handicaps and could only express himself through art. Later I found myself teaching drawing and painting to my oncology patients who had creating art on their bucket list. Our occasional lesson became a weekly Friday of fun. When my son graduated high school my kids pointed out I should do this full time since it gives me such pleasure having people reach their potential.
Tell us about your family.
I have 4 sons, 1 daughter and 2 grandchildren. My youngest, Nathan is a Junior and Lago High School. I am a widow.
What are your favorite hobbies?
My hobbies are painting, sculpting and gardening. I say that, but I sure do love a good football or baseball game. Yeah, I love my Vikings!
What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is green, like the color of grass. It always makes me smile. I love being outside.
What is your favorite thing about teaching art?
I really like teaching middle school art. The sheer joy when a student's hard work comes to fruition and they are happy and proud.
Who is your favorite artist?
Norman Rockwell is my favorite artist. Making people smile, reminiscence, laugh are all great attributes that his work displays. What a great career, to have people smile.
