Details for the Week
"When teachers and students use assessments to make timely adjustments in teaching and learning tactics, they can effectively double the speed of learning." (Love and Cromwell, 2018)
In the article,Strong Teams, Strong Results, Love and Cromwell discuss frequent check ins for understanding. This should sound familiar to us with our CFA work! Teachers prior to giving these check ins would tell students these three things.
1. I want to know how you are doing during learning, so I can take the next steps.
2. Errors are a vital part of our learning.
3. It's persistence, not first and fastest, that matters.
Let's make sure we are communicating to students about why we are using CFAs in the classroom!

Important News:
On days you participate in Red Ribbon Week dress up, you may wear jeans. If you choose NOT to participate then you will need to be professionally dressed.
SWEEPs: We were looking for a couple of different things last week. We were checking on locked doors. There were three doors completely open and two unlocked. Make sure your doors are closed and locked at all times. We were checking in on reading lesson plans. Mrs. McNew is the reading lesson plan winner! Let Mrs. Manning know if you have questions about your guided reading lesson plans. An email was sent out Friday with details. We also were checking on who was talking. Of all the classrooms, we walked through, there were 3 classes were kids were talking when we entered instead of students. I remember as a classroom teacher, when my principal walked in, I felt like I needed to say something. Try to resist from doing that, so we can get an accurate picture of what is happening in the room.
Fall Festival raised over $132,000!!! This is highest ever!! What an outstanding job to all who sold and raised money for PTO!!
On Wednesday we will start the book character parade at 8:30 am. At 8:20 am we will call for anyone that is dressed up and has their book to the lobby to get them lined up. Ms. Patty will do an all-call when we are ready for you to line the rest of your students in the hallway. Please remind them that no high-fives or touching the students that are walking in the parade.
On Wednesday, our Team Meetings will start with 5th grade at 9:30 - 10:20. We will meet with grade level teams. I will send out the agenda on Tuesday. We have several housekeeping items that we will address in this meeting. I try to refrain from doing this often, but this one cannot be helped. We will not meet with support staff.
Progress Monitoring and Documentation: MAP Progress Monitoring grades 4 and 5, Dibels PM 3-5. SIT documentation updates are for K-2. Make sure if you are working with a SIT child during tier 1 instruction, interventions during PROWL or class time, you are commenting on their sheet. All SIT documentation should be completed by 3:40 on Friday. If you are working with a child but do not have access to their SIT sheet, email Mrs. Manning for access.
If you have met with all of your parents for conferences, please turn in the sign in sheet to Mrs. Patty. Those that did not attend, you will need to contact and set up a meeting.
Perfect attendance party information:
- This includes all students that have missed 2 days or less in the first nine weeks. Mrs. Hogg will give teachers a list. We will call for them to come to the party. Party should take no longer than 15 minutes.
- Thursday @ 1:50 with Kinder (Mrs. Hogg and Mrs. Dunlap)
- Thursday @ 2:20 with 1st and 3rd grade (Mrs. Hogg and Mrs. Dunlap)
