The November 5th Bond Referendum contains a second proposition, Proposition B, which
includes the installation of artificial turf on the fields used by Oak Ridge, TW College Park,
Conroe, Caney Creek and The Woodlands High School. This will allow the 15,000+ students to
use the fields for their activities on a more consistent basis.
To view more information about Proposition B and learn more about the November 2019 Bond
Election, please visit www.conroeisd.net/bond or visit our Facebook page at @CISDBond2019.

2nd Grading Period Recess Duty
Here are the new Duty Spots for the 2nd 9 weeks....that went quick!
Bamo...as I discussed with you guys, I kept you in the same spot in the lunch room. However, I did change your spots for recess so please see the "Lunch Duty Stations" attachment to see your new duty spot. If you were on the concrete I moved you to grass and if you were on grass I moved you to concrete...thought that was fair. Coach Henry please go out to the soccer field at the start of 6th grade recess and help Robby get the soccer teams going and then come back to help out with basketball.
Teachers I want you to know I picked a name out of a hat for the coveted door to the bathroom duty spot. So...the door duty spot for the 2nd 9 weeks for 5th grade went to Bruns and for 6th grade it went to Faires! For everyone else I did the same thing I did with BAMO, if you were on grass I moved you to concrete and if you were on concrete I moved you to grass. Emenheiser and Fiorenza will stay in the same spot because they have a student they need to keep an eye on and that is where he goes (tree area).
Recess has been a success for the most part. I can tell you they are starting to do more pushing, hitting, cursing, and hurting each other's feelings lately. So with that said, please be vigilante. Remember we are on duty to monitor the students so please make sure to look for anything suspicious and address it as soon as possible.
As always thank you for everything you guys do!
Chris
With the first 9 weeks coming to a close I wanted to take a second to talk about Recess. Like I have said already, overall Recess has been a success. The kids are having fun and getting to spend time with all their friends not just the friends from their LC. I want to thank all of you for helping out because I know there have definitely been some hot days out there. While the kids may not come up to you and say it I can guarantee they appreciate it and so do the parents.
Couple reminders about the expectations for recess duty:
- Our only purpose for being out there is to monitor students
- We should not be on our phones or grading papers
- We should be spread out the entire time and not standing next to each other
- For example - the four teachers that are on the soccer field should be on all four sides of the field
- If you see a large group of students someone should go check out what they are doing
- If you hear an area that keeps getting louder and louder please go investigate why
- For those of you watching Tag make sure you are spread out from the fence by the parking lot all the way to the tree by the school
- For those of you watching Four Square make sure you guys are covering the entire area
- Keep in mind most of our issues are coming from Four Square and the Tag area of the field
- For those of you monitoring soccer and basketball please make sure they are not playing too rough and also that they are showing good sportsmanship
Believe me, I know things come up. Something may happen and you need to talk to someone real quick or check your phone because your dealing with a personal matter...I get it. All I'm asking is that if you do need to talk to someone or check your phone, you do it quickly and get back to monitoring your area as soon as you can. The more proactive we are the less work we will have to do in the long run. We have done a great job but I think everyone would agree we could do a little better and probably decrease a lot of the drama that pops up. Best way to look at it is like you're "life guarding." Your constantly observing your area looking for anyone that needs your help. The better we monitor recess the less stressful it will be for everyone.
Thank you for everything you do!
Chris
ESL Certification - Printed Certificate Needed
Teachers,
Yesterday we were audited for LPAC. We did great the only thing that I need to do is make sure I have a copy of everyone's ESL certification and/or SIOP training in the LPAC master binder. So, I need you guys to go to SBEC, print out your certificate that shows you are certified in ESL, and drop it in my box. If you are SIOP trained please print your certificate and drop it in my box also. I know you guys are very busy right now so they won't be due until 10/25/19.
If you already gave me yours and I lost it I apologize but that is all I have right now. I know you guys probably had to do this last year so I apologize for the inconvenience and I promise I looked for them everywhere around this office but have not found them.
Thank you for taking care of this for me.
Chris

TPSP
This week is the official start week of TPSP. The expectation is that students will/have picked their project and will meet with their project team lead teacher for 20 minutes this week. Also, during that same project team leader teacher's class the students who pick his/her project will have 15- 20 minutes to work on their project, in lieu of another assignment. (Not just if they have free time, when there is free time, or when they complete an assignment.)
For example:
If I have 3/12 students choose Culture Shock then I am planning my lessons this week around making sure that this small group of students have 20 minutes to talk to me and for me to guide them on what to do initially with the project, and then I will make sure that instead of doing an activity in class I have planned, a worksheet, watch a video or whatever I might have planned, these 3 students have 15-20 minutes during my class time to work independently on their project.
Please document in your plans when you do this time with students, so we can follow up with parents with specific quantitative data of when you were able to make this time happen. This just ensures that students are able to work a little each week during the year on the project. This is not an at home project.
Our hope at this point is that the EXPO will be a joined EXPO in the gym and throughout the school in May during an evening event to highlight the student's work.

Yearbook
Dear (Teacher),
The yearbook theme this year is "Make it Count" and I need your help to make the yearbook really special for the kids. Please download the ReplayIt app, search for Collins, and enter password: cobras19. If you catch your kids doing something great, snap a picture and share it with me through the app (or email or text it to me directly). When you plan something special in your class shoot me a quick note and I would love to come capture the fun to include in the yearbook if you would rather not take the pictures yourself. With your help the kids will get to relive all the special moments they had this year for years to come. I would also love to hear your suggestions!
Thank you for making this year count!
