PRINCIPALS CORNER
John Harris Families,
We have completed the first quarter of the 21-22 school year. The children have worked hard to learn and master new 1st quarter content. Thank you for partnering with the classroom teacher to support your child’s learning. Report cards will come home with students next week on Friday, November 5.
Thank you for attending parent/teacher conferences! Conferences allow us to discuss your child's progress academically, socially, and emotionally. We are incredibly proud of our John Harris students! We enjoyed visiting with you and sharing all the learning from the 1st quarter.
Colder Weather is Here!
We would like to remind everyone that with the cold temperatures comes the need to send your children to school prepared for the cold and snowy weather. If your child needs a particular piece of winter wear to stay warm in the cold weather, please be sure to connect with the John Harris office staff– they will be happy to locate the right piece of winter wear.
MAKE A BLANKET DAY DATE CHANGE!!
Make A Blanket Day has been changed. On Friday, February 25, 2022, our John Harris Elementary school community will come together to reach our goal of making 125 fleece tie blankets for Project Warm-Up. We will be working throughout the day in the gymnasium, as a team, to make this goal a reality! More information to come after winter break.
Be on the lookout for sales on fleece and drop them off in the office if you purchase any. We will be looking for volunteers to help cut blankets in preparation for students~stay tuned for signups.
THANK YOU from the PTO
THANK YOU, John Harris Families!
The PTO would like to thank all the families who were able to make our fundraiser a HUGE success! Our first ever John Harris FUN RUN raised $49,787.65 for our school. Thank you ~ Thank You ~ THANK YOU!!! Each classroom teacher will receive 10% of their total sales from the Fun Run to spend as they wish for their classroom. With the remaining money, we plan to enrich our classrooms, support our staff, and help continue to make John Harris a wonderful place for our children.
One way we are going to achieve this goal is to ask our teachers to dream big. We want them to think outside the box for items they need or want. We would like to ask parents to do the same. If you have some ideas for our teachers, school, and PTO, will you please use this Link and fill-out our survey.
We would love to hear from everyone! Your voice matters to us!
Thank you, John Harris PTO
150th Anniversary Tree Planting and John Harris celebrates its 30th Birthday
Our 150th Anniversary theme is “Rooted in the Past ~ Reaching for the Future.” A tree was chosen as the symbol of celebration because a good foundation allows us all to grow. No matter your age, your “roots” run deep. Each success you have in life will be directly connected to the time and place at which you are standing now. You will always be a student of John Harris. You will branch out and go on to middle school/high school/college or the military or work… and you will have been shaped by your classmates, your teachers, and your experiences. Each year – just like a tree when it forms its leaves – there is an opportunity for a new beginning.
The tree here at John Harris was donated by The Ausborn Family, and we are honored they were able to join us as we celebrated this tree planting and remember our past and look forward to our future.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!!
