University School Weekly Update
July 12-16, 2021
Greetings University School Families! It was great seeing students back in the halls and on-campus and we look forward to this first full-week! We ask that you please review the following information as you prepare the week:
2021-2022 Calendar Change
Please note that the November 1st PD day is now a regular school day for our students and students will now be off on Friday, October 22nd so teachers can attend a regional professional development training. Please see the revised calendar below or you may print off a pdf version of the calendar by visiting our school's
website and clicking on the calendar button found under the students drop down menu.
University School Return-to-School Safety Protocols
As you may be aware the CDC has released new school recommendations for the 2021-22 school year, these are recommendations are being reviewed and discussed with the ETSU Covid advisory board to determine if any revisions to our current plans need to occur at this time. Until that time, we ask that our students, staff and families follow these recommended guidelines:
- ETSU and University School no longer requires fully vaccinated individuals to wear face coverings on campus. Anyone who has not been vaccinated is strongly encouraged to continuing wearing a mask when indoors and in close proximity of others.
- Physical distancing will be observed to the greatest extent possible.
- Additional sanitizing will take place daily.
- Individual sanitizing wipes will be provided for cleaning student work areas.
- Hand sanitizing and regular handwashing is strongly encouraged.
- Individuals exhibiting COVID-like symptoms should remain home until cleared to return to school (following current return-to-school algorithm).

University School Open House
Open House is scheduled for Thursday, July 15th. from 5:30-7:00 PM. In addition to visiting the classrooms, there will be outdoor activities available including a few food vendors. We do ask that families and students to not congregate and to maintain physical distancing to the greatest extent possible during this event.

You'll find a great selection of Nike, North Face, and Arctic apparel, water bottles and tumblers, ball caps, backpacks, and car magnets. All sales will be available for pickup at school (pickup dates vary based upon order date) and benefit the University School Foundation which supports faculty and students. These are great items to show your school spirit or to stash away for gifts for special events throughout the year.

High School Baseball Tryouts
Any 9-12 grader interested in trying out for baseball will need to meet with Coach Petty on Wednesday, July 14th, 2021, in room 302A at 3:15 p.m.
Responsible Use Form - Please Complete
All University School Students are required to complete a Responsible Use Agreement, please review and complete the appropriate Responsible Use Agreement Form for each U-School student attending during the 2021-2022 school year.
