Principal's Message
Dear Field Families,
Welcome back to school! I hope you had a fun-filled spring break.
We have had frequent visitors on campus over the past two weeks-- two Canadian Geese. This breed has been nesting each spring at Pasadena High School for at least 10 years now and I'm guessing this pair is just taking a field trip to our campus. We must warn our students to stay away from them as they will behave aggressively if they feel threatened.
Congratulations to fifth grader Gwendolyn for earning the First Place Author Award in the City of Pasadena One City One Story "A Vivid Memory" Writing Contest. She was honored at a special event on Sunday at the Pasadena Central Library.
Spring Picture Day is March 24. Students have free dress for this picture, but they must follow the dress code; for example, no tank tops and no t-shirts with inappropriate messages or pictures.
Thursday, March 24, is also our Chinese Poetry Competition. Many of our students have been preparing for this event. This is the qualifying competition to determine who will represent our school in the Southern California Chinese Schools Association competition. Good luck to all participants!
Thursday, March 31, is a pupil-free day. The teachers and staff will be experiencing professional learning throughout the day. Please be aware that the school will be closed.
We will start our participation in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) on April 11 and conclude on April 29. All third through fifth grade students will participate in the CAASPP and the fifth graders will take an additional test in Science. Parents of students who are testing will receive a separate letter with a more detailed schedule.
Thank you for your continued support.

Brookside Golf and Country Club
Bonjour, parents! Y'all are invited to Field Elementary's 4th annual gala and silent auction: A Night of Jazz at the Field Big Easy on Saturday, April 23rd at the Brookside Golf and Country Club. The gala committee is hard at work planning the big celebration by providing you with catfish, beignets and lots of jazz!
It's going to be a good time but this party is really about making money for our school. If you know of a local business that has an amazing product or service that they would like to donate to the silent auction, now is the time to ask them! Please contact the Gala committee at FieldBigEasy2016@gmail.com for more information on how to procure an awesome auction item.
