Weekly Updates - January 28, 2023
Happy Sunday Pirates,
It was a wonderful week at Swansboro High School. Our students and staff kicked off the spring semester and we have much to celebrate this week. Congratulations to Ms. Graham who was recognized as the WITN Teacher of the Week on Wednesday. Our percussion placed 1st, Winterguard 2nd and winds placed 1st in the competition on Saturday at Rolesville.
In athletics, our wrestlers brought home the conference championship on Tuesday night with their win over Dixon. Our lady wrestlers competed in regionals on Thursday night and Joslyn, Sophia, Rei and Maggie are headed to states! Our wrestling team competed in the first round of playoffs on Saturday and dominated the competition with wins of 60-24 and 55-12. Congratulations to our swimmers who competed in the conference meet on Friday night! Our girls placed 2nd in the conference meet and our boys placed 3rd! In track, we had 15 students who have already qualified for the state competition. In basketball, our ladies and men brought home victories over Richlands on Monday night. On Thursday night, our ladies JV, men's JV and men's varsity brought home wins over Croatan.
This will be a busy week at Swansboro High School. Monday will include an 11th grade class assembly during homeroom with an overview of ACT prep, strategic planning at 3:00 pm and project graduation at 6:00 pm. On Thursday, we will host a rising 9th grade parent meeting at 6:00 pm. Our inaugural Hall of Fame banquet and All-District concert will be held on Saturday. In athletics, basketball will host West Carteret on Tuesday. Track will compete in the conference meet on Wednesday at West Carteret while wrestling heads to the next round of state playoffs. JV basketball teams will host Dixon on Thursday. Varsity basketball will host Dixon while swim competes at Regionals and ladies wrestlers compete at the state championships on Friday.
