Howell Student-Participants Attend FHSD Activities Leadership Summit
Last week during fall break the three FHSD Activities Departments hosted an Activities Leadership Summit for student participants. Those that attended were able to hear presentations from Jim Powers (HS Sports Caravan, Maryville University) and Todd Zell (MSHSAA) regarding social medai usage and the "Why We Play" initiative. Student-participants were also exposed to several leadership and team building activities with members from FHC and FHN. At the end of the day all students were able to write their "Why Statement" on why they are involved in activities and sports at Howell.
Thank you to all of our Howell participants and to FHN for hosting the event. We look forward to seeing our student-participants putting these new skills into action this week.

Boys Swim Volunteers With KEEN
Being involved in an activity, club or sport at Francis Howell is about more than just competing or being involved with that group. All programs take part in outreach and community support. The boys swim program has partnered with KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now). KEEN is a program that aims at taking trained volunteers to work one on one with children that have disabilities. The program emphasis allowing kids with significant challenges the opportunity to have fun and be successful. The boys swim team is currently working with kids to help them learn to swim and also enjoy the water. Due to the large turnout by our swim program the KEEN program was able to open up more spots for kids and take several off of their waiting list. Thank you to our boys swim program for making such a huge difference in our community and young kids lives!
