The Week in Review - November 30, 2018
Computer Science Education Week
"Computing is a fundamental part of daily life, commerce, and just about every occupation in our modern economy. It is essential that students are exposed to the field of computer science in our K-12 system—as it is foundational in transforming the way a student thinks about the world. It not only teaches them about technology, it also teaches them how to think differently about any problem. Computer science puts students on the path toward some of the highest paying, fastest growing jobs in America." ~ Code.org
We want our students to have every opportunity to choose a career in computer science if they desire. But, we also want them to have exposure to these concepts regardless of their career choice. Across the system we have teachers and central office staff introducing our students to computer science concepts. We have many teachers and students who will be participating in next week's Hour of Code, sponsored by Code.org in conjunction with Computer Science in Education Week. In many classrooms coding and app building activities have already begun prior to next week's event. Great job, Bearcats!
