Lead Learner Highlights
Dear KP Families,
Can you believe October is already here? I want to thank all of you for attending our Open Houses this year. We hope you enjoyed getting a small glimpse into your child's day. As we complete our first month of school, we are happy about how smoothly the transition has been. We've started our first round of team monthly celebrations and it is wonderful to hear the ways in which students are exhibiting the attributes of respect, responsibility, and citizenship in their classrooms and the school community. Our goal is for all students to receive a Character Counts recognition by the end of their three years at King Philip.
This is the last weekend for our school's Color Run Fundraiser. This promises to be a wonderful community event that also will support our school by providing technology for our classrooms, field trip support for school groups, curriculum supported activities and more. Please remember that every student/family that wants to run must pay the entry fee.
As you peruse this week's newsletter, please look for Ski Club news, our KP Character Counts Bowling League fall session information and student contests that might be of interest to your child. Our after-school activities have started as well. If your child is not involved in something, please review the intramural and after-school activities offerings and encourage them to try something or share an idea with their teacher.
On Friday September 22nd the school counselors hosted a breakfast for 39 students new to the West Hartford School District and The King Philip School community. The students met their grade level counselor and also had an opportunity to learn more about each other. We are excited to welcome these students to our KP community!

"Public Act 16-189
We believe that it is vital for all students in West Hartford Public Schools to be able to efficiently and effectively use digital tools that empower them in all phases of the learning process, including research, problem solving, content creation, communication, and collaboration. We also believe that we must be committed at all times to protecting students' privacy and providing them with a powerful and safe educational experience. To that end, the West Hartford Public Schools follow the legal requirements of Public Act 16-189 to promote the safety and security of all students and staff.
In compliance with Connecticut State Law, we update online programs used within the district that house student data. The programs may be used district-wide, in a very small number of classrooms, or with individual students. The list will be updated each time the district enters into a new contract where student data is housed. For more information on the specifics of Public Act 16-189 and updates of vendor agreements, visit www.whps.org/pa189."
