Get into the Game!
This year we have modified our PBiS procedures from the 5 Be's to the 5 Rules, to fit with our Whole Brain Teaching practices better. Our building wide rules are:
Rule #1 - Be Cooperative - Follow Directions Quickly
Rule #2 - Be Respectful - Raise Your Hand
Rule #3 - Be Safe - KHFAAOOTY
Rule #4 - Act Responsibly - Make Smart Choices
Rule #5 Be Kind - Treat Others The Way You Want To Be Treated
Congratulations to our Coin Count Winners for the Week of August 14th - 17th
In 3rd place was 1st Grade
In 2nd place was 2nd Grade
In 1st place was 5th Grade
Congratulations to all our students working hard practicing and following our 5 Rules!
Congratulations Mrs. Porter, recipient of the Fabulous Flamingo Award
Mrs. Porter was recognized for being fabulously flexible, and helping out wherever she was needed during the 1st week of school. She helped assess new students, and helped our kindergarten teachers with an extra set of hands as our newest students learned about being at school.
We appreciate all the great things Mrs. Porter does for our students throughout the year!
Handbook and Social Media Forms
We also must have your signed permission before we are allowed to include your student's picture in any posts on social media pertaining to MCE. We love to celebrate the learning happening at MCE, and we do this by sharing pictures.
Please return the signed permission form to your child's teacher as soon as possible, if you have not done so.

Montgomery City Elementary Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Students being dropped off will follow a procedure to create a safe orderly environment for arrival.
Vehicles should enter the new parking lot, continuing straight, off Summers St. We will be using the front entrance, behind the Powercat. Students riding the bus will exit on Harper Street to use the same bus doors as last year. All students will be directed to enter the gym and find their class. Students who plan to eat breakfast will put their backpacks in their class line, and then go to breakfast in our new cafeteria.
In the morning, the doors will open at 7:30 a.m. when MCE supervision is available. Supervision prior to 7:30 a.m. is the responsibility of the parent or guardian. While waiting with a child until the doors open may be an inconvenience, please understand that student safety is our number one priority.
Vehicles waiting for the doors to open should park in the new parking area, or wait in the striped drop off/pick up lanes, parallel to the sidewalk, pulling up to the first barrier in the new parking lot. Once you have dropped off/picked up your child(ren), you may pull into the middle lane to exit. We have a crosswalk painted now for safe crossing from the parking area to the front door of school. Please pay close attention to the crossing lane as you merge to exit.
Buses will line up on Harper Street and drop students at the sidewalk nearest the corner of Summer Street and Harper Street. Students will walk safely to the building and go the gym for our morning assembly. If they are eating breakfast, they will leave their backpacks in line and go immediately to the cafeteria.
A map for the arrival/dismissal of students is provided at the end of this letter for your convenience. Thank you in advance for using caution in the morning as our elementary students arrive to school!
Student dismissal procedures are as follows:
Dismissal time is 3:35 for early bus riders, 3:45 for walkers and car riders, and 3:55 for late bus riders at Montgomery City Elementary.
**IF your child(ren) are regularly picked up after school, you will be provided with a car tag during the second week of school. This tag will alert the staff on duty that the person with the tag, has permission to pick up your child. You will WAIT in your vehicle and your child will be dismissed to your vehicle. Please teach your child how to buckle themselves in their seat. If you plan to help your child buckle up, you will need to pull into a parking spot as to not halt the flow of traffic. PLEASE be patient. It usually takes about 7 minutes to have all students safely in their parents' cars and on their way after the dismissal procedure begins.
IF no tag is present, staff members will verify that the student is being dismissed to an individual approved by a parent or guardian. You may be asked to provide a form of identification to the staff member on duty if he or she is unfamiliar with you to ensure that students are going home with an approved person. Again this is being done to keep our students safe!
If you need to enter the school building, you must pull into a parking spot. Not stop in the pick up line.
Walkers and bike riders will be dismissed from the bus exit doors. If an older sibling is to walk home with a younger sibling, please send a note and we will have the younger sibling wait in the classroom to be picked up by the older sibling.
Early and late bus riders will leave from the bus doors near the gym.
Thank you for following our adopted procedures as our goal is send ALL our students home safely!
Help us ensure your child's safety at the end of the day!
If you need to make a change to your child’s normal routine you must send a note with your child in the morning. If it is an emergency, you must call and speak to a secretary before 2pm. Do not leave a message on the school answering service. The answering service is to report absences only, and it is not checked throughout the day.
We will not make any changes after 2pm. Our goal is to get every student safely to their correct destination at the end of each day. We need your help to make sure this happens.
You must opt in to receive text messages from School Messenger
