Keeping Students in School
With the goal of keeping students and staff in school, Fargo Public Schools is working to create a COVID-19 testing program in schools. Each school will have a scheduled time during the day that they will have BinaxNOW rapid testing available for both students and staff.
If a student or staff member is deemed an unmasked close contact, they can use this program to remain in school. In order to participate in the testing program, parents must fill out the testing consent form for their child in PowerSchool. The student or staff member must test at least every other day and remain asymptomatic during the duration of the testing program. Students and staff members should work with their building administration and testing staff to determine which days to test and work around scheduling conflicts.
Fargo Public Schools plans to have this program running as soon as possible. For the time being, students and staff can get tested at Fargo Cass Public Health’s testing site open Monday - Friday,
8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 3051 25th Street South, Suite K, Fargo. For additional ways to stay in school, visit the FPS How to Stay in School webpage.
HUSKY HUTCH: COULD YOUR FAMILY BENEFIT FROM FOOD ASSISTANCE?
We have a program that can help you! The Husky Hutch Food Pantry! We offer assistance at any time.
Mission:
The mission of the Husky Hutch Food Pantry is a free service to help alleviate child hunger through the provision of food to children and their families at school. The pantry is located on the grounds of Clara Barton Elementary School and is intended to provide a more readily accessible source of food assistance and clothing assistance to low-income students and their families. It is open to all elementary school children in the Fargo Public Schools Network and is accessible through a Student Wellness Facilitator (SWFF), School Counselor,
or School Principal. It could be a one time visit or more as needed and is totally confidential.
What types of items will be available at the school pantry?
Most of the items available are shelf stable, nutritious, and easy to prepare so that the children are able to care for themselves as much as possible. Some staples that should be available:
● Crackers, cookies, fruit snacks, granola bars, fruit bars, chips, etc.
● Canned tuna or chicken
● Cereal
● Canned soups and pasta meals
● Applesauce, canned fruit, canned vegetables
● Beverages (water, juice, etc)
● Assortment of other food items
● Assortment of hygiene products
