Clogging is Coming to Town!

Michelle Squire is opening a studio!

Come learn how to Clog!

My name is Michelle Squire and I am trying to earn money for a clogging tour to a folk festival in Quebec Canada. One way I am hoping to earn money is by teaching clogging at my home here in Springville. I have been teaching for about 2 years with my own teacher but I am now starting my own little studio at my house. I have competed in many competitions, becoming a National Champion in the America On Stage Organization, and making it on to the All American Team. I have toured through the mid west, dancing at various places including a pre-show for the Dixie Stampede and the Hues Brothers show in Branson Missouri. I love teaching and I am excited for this opportunity to teach here at my house!

What exactly IS clogging?

Clogging is a percussive dance similar to tap. In fact, another name for clogging is Power Tap. You work your way up through 6 levels: Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Championship, and Pro. It is a fun dance that welcomes girls and boys alike. Beginners will start off learning easier dance moves, not necessarily specific to clogging. It's a high energy, fun experience where students can come to learn and be with their team, making great friendships. Feel free to check out this website: http://americanfootworks.blogspot.com/p/what-is-clogging.html for a more in-depth explanation on how it all started. Or, to simply see what it looks like, watch the video below or above.

Join the Studio!

To join my small studio, simply give me a call and I will put your child in a class where I think they will be comfortable. We are very good at adjusting and if we need to and changes can be made to make everyone as comfortable as possible. Please remember that beginner cloggers will not need to provide their own clogging shoes. Wearing clogging shoes is not necessary until you advance to the more difficult levels. Times have not currently be determined due to the fact that I don't know how many classes will be made and how many times I need to schedule but classes will be provided on Wednesdays after school. Classes will start in January the week that school begins. The first class will be Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Registration fees will be due by the first Wednesday of every month.
