No more "Guidance Counselors"-VSCA on the move....ADVOCATING for ALL
If you have not heard.....DOE is changing the language from "Guidance" to "School" Counselors. On October 28th, Dr. Staples, the Superintendent of Education, sent an email stating that the board had favorable remarks to VSCA's request and the VDOE is conducting a document scan to identify all places using the term "Guidance Counselor" for replacement with term "School Counselor". VSCA is on the move. Let's continue to advocate for our rights and needs on January 14, 2015 at Legislative Day.
Spring Professional Development-Region 8
VSCA has scheduled a Professional Development opportunity just for us in Region 8. Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 16th at Longwood University. Suicide Prevention will be the topic. More information in regards to time and exact location on Longwood's campus coming soon.
Spring Meet & Greet
The month of November is moving right along. Just a reminder that we are not having a Fall Meet & Greet since most of us met up at the annual conference. Please send me ideas for a Spring Meet & Greet or if you would like to hold our Meet & Greet at our Spring Professional Development site in April.
Happy Thanksgiving
As we head into our holiday months I just would like to wish you all holiday cheer. Please let us remember all of our students that may not be as fortunate as others during the holiday season and let's continue to ADVOCATE for their needs. Happy Thanksgiving.
