Book Report By: Hayes Oswald

Introduction

There were many attempts to rob the graves of many famous Americans in the 1860's and 70's, but none were as widely broadcasted as the attempts to rob Abraham Lincoln's grave. In this non-fiction book, it explains the many attempts to steal the body of Abraham Lincoln. This book also gives the reader a clear description of the officer's involved in the investigations and the many attempts that failed to capture the crooks.

There were many attempts to steal the grave, but there was one where, two men named Hughes and Mullen from Chicago, Illinois tried to steal the casket, the director of FBI, Sergeant Tyrell, is on hot on the case. But after a failed attempt to capture the 2 men at the sight of the robbery almost turned into disaster.

This book was well written because it gave perfectly clear, descriptions of how events took place in this time period. The author also provided excellent information and suspense throughout the book. He also had a book laid out really well and I understood everything that was going on from beginning to end.

What was the author’s purpose for writing this book?

I thought the author's purpose for writing this book, was to inform the readers about what was really going on in this time in history. All of the crimes that were going on and what law enforcements were doing to stop it. I think the author also wanted to give us a good description of Lincoln's life and what he really meant to the people of America.
