Principal's Corner
We are now halfway through the 3rd quarter! We are so proud of all our students have accomplished this year. This week our students continued their virtual learning, and we are excited to have our hybrid students back in the building on the 22nd.
We know that there have been many challenges to the schedule changes this year, and we greatly appreciate your patience and support. In the event that the division designates a school day as asynchronous due to inclement weather, our teachers will hold morning meetings from 10:45-11:00 and share what students should be working on that day.
A reminder that Monday February 15th is a student and teacher holiday. Students do not need to login with their teachers or complete any work. We hope you enjoy the long snowy weekend!
Warmly,
Allison Langridge

Facts about COVID-19 to discuss with children:
Try to keep information simple and remind them that health and school officials are working hard to keep everyone safe and healthy.
What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is the short name for “coronavirus disease 2019.” It is a new virus. Scientists and doctors are still learning about it.
Recently, this virus has made a lot of people sick. Scientists and doctors are trying to learn more so they can help people who get sick.
Doctors and health experts are working hard to help people stay healthy.
What can I do so that I don’t get COVID-19?
- You can practice healthy habits at home, school, and play to help protect against the spread of COVID-19.
What happens if you get sick with COVID-19?
COVID-19 can look different in different people. For many people, being sick with COVID-19 would be a little bit like having the flu. People can get a fever, cough, or have a hard time taking deep breaths. Most people who have gotten COVID-19 have not gotten very sick. Only a small group of people who get it have had more serious problems.
If you do get sick, it doesn’t mean you have COVID-19. People can get sick from all kinds of germs. What’s important to remember is that if you do get sick, the adults at home will help get you any help that you need.
If you suspect your child may have COVID-19, call the healthcare facility to let them know before you bring your child in to see them.
APEX Dance Remix
Next week, they will learn to THINK AHEAD and it’s YOUR TURN to be a MIGHTY LEADER. On Thursday, February 19 we will be holding the APEX REMIX to celebrate everything they’ve learned and the money we raised! The funds will go to special projects to help enhance our students, both in-person and virtual, learning experience.
Students are aiming to get pledges from 10 sponsors to help raise money for the school, and they are earning awards for their pledges. On average students complete between 30 and 36 Fitness Moves with 36 Fitness Moves being the most they can get credit for. Due to Covid, all students will receive a default of 36 fitness moves. So, if a pledge is made for $1 per Fitness Move the donation will be $36. If your student completes less than 36 moves then please contact donald@apexfunrun.com before Friday, February 20 by 5pm so he may edit your students moves with 30 moves being the minimum. If you already have an access code, enter it at www.myapexevent.com to donate to your student’s webpage. All instructions are inside. If you cannot find your code, just email donald@apexfunrun.com. This helps the school and helps us keep track of pledges.

Social Emotional Learning
With Valentine’s Day coming soon, now is the perfect time to practice spreading kindness. Kindness is defined as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. Not only is kindness simple to spread, but it is one of the only things in the world that actually doubles when you share it! Being kind benefits both those who give it and receive it. One of the easiest ways to teach your child to be kind is to model it yourself. Here are 7 easy ways to teach your child kindness through modeling!
