A Grateful Heart by Jasmine Mizola, Class of 2024
BEGIN EACH DAY WITH A GRATEFUL HEART
I give thanks to my God at every remembrance of you,
praying always with joy in my every prayer for all of you,
because of your partnership for the gospel from the first day until now.
And this is my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more
in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value,
so that you may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,
filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ
for the glory and praise of God.
~From Saint Paul’s Letter to the Philippians, Ch. 1:1-5, 9-11
Dear Saint Clare School Families,
We have so much for which to be grateful! This past week during morning assembly, we focused our gratitude “thoughts for the day” on adults who show us how to be good humans. Recognizing that they are surrounded by adults who teach them how to treat others with respect, who teach them right from wrong, how to be courageous and kind, how to persevere amidst challenges, and most of all, how to love.
As educators, we see and we appreciate the values you teach and practice at home. Our work to form compassionate servant leaders is ongoing, but oh so important! Recalling our norms of engagement, we presume positive intentions, seek first to understand, and acknowledge that the formation of our children is our collective responsibility. Thank you for your continued partnership in this mission.
A DAY OF LEARNING AND COLLABORATION | NO SCHOOL/NO CKZ ON Fri., Oct. 21
Our faculty and staff will gather together for a day dedicated to the work of our accreditation Self Study. Thank you for allowing us the time to do this. Please plan accordingly. Please plan accordingly.
PLANNING AHEAD: What to Expect
- Intro to Embroidery for those registered in G3-8 starts Monday, Oct. 17
- Picture Retake Day, Oct. 19
- NO Liturgical Choir on Oct. 19
- NO SCHOOL/NO CKZ on Oct. 21: Faculty and Staff In-Service Day
Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 23-28: Although traditionally geared towards living a drug-free life, our Saint Clare School RRW focus is on making healthy choices. Speak with your children about healthy living and making the right choices.
Jog-a-Thon, Oct. 26:
Students come in Spirit Shirts with PE bottoms. Remind students to bring reusable water bottles. Remind students of behavior expectations: listen to ALL adults.
We will begin walk to Bellomy Field at 9 A.M. Students may walk with buddies. Parent volunteers to walk with us. Families may meet us there and cheer us on!
We will walk back to the school at around 11 A.M. Students will be served pizza.
We will dismiss as usual at 12:30.
Halloween, Oct. 31:
Students may come to school in costume. Gory makeup, weapons of any kind, costumes too scary for 4 year-olds and costumes inappropriate for an elementary Catholic school are not allowed. For safety reasons, one-sies are not allowed.
The Student Council led costume parade begins after lunch at 1 P.M. on Washington Street. Parents and younger siblings may attend.
Following the parade, the PTG Halloween Committee will stage some Halloween games and activities with treats. Buddies may attend together.
Middle schoolers will have a Halloween party in the Hall.
All Saints Day, November 1:
We will have an ALL SCHOOL MASS at 10:45 A.M. attended by TK-8; TK-2 will be dismissed after the Liturgy of the Word (after Prayer of the Faithful, before Preparation of the Gifts). We will let you know.
There will be no Friday mass this week.
All Souls Day/El Dia de los Muertos, November 2
Our Hospitality Committee will set up an altar to honor those who have passed. Students may create “shoebox” ofrendas to honor their dearly departed that we will display these alongside the altar.
Multicultural Evening, November 11:
There is no school on this day as it is Veterans’ Day. However, we would like to see a strong showing as we have had in the past. Invite family and friends, alumni families, and prospective families. It's a great way to celebrate and take pride in our diverse and welcoming community.
The Committee is still looking for more home chefs to offer their rich cultural heritage through food!
