COVID 19 - UPDATE/LATEST ADVICE
Students being sent home after developing possible Covid-19 symptoms
Following advice from Education Services, any of our students who need to be sent home due to having possible Covid symptoms, and their parents/carers, should read the information in the leaflets links to which are below. These leaflets explain the situation and provide initial advice.
Leaflet for parents of students being sent home with Covid symptoms
Leaflet for Students & Apprentices being sent home with Covid symptoms
Information in the leaflets will be updated as advice from Public Health changes, so please do read them if your son/daughter/ward is sent home with possible Covid symptoms, even if they were sent home recently and you read the leaflets then.
Latest guidance
If anyone becomes unwell with any flu like symptoms (headache, muscle aches, blocked nose, fever, sore throat, cough, sneezing, shortness of breath or loss of taste or smell) they must stay at home. Anyone developing symptoms at the College will be sent home immediately and advised to contact the Coronavirus helpline to arrange testing.
Symptomatic individuals should isolate on their own until they have received a negative test result. Young children will require a parent or carer to isolate with them. Assuming family members have no contact with the isolating child and parent/carer, they can carry on their activities as normal.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
We'd just like to remind you of that the last day of term is Friday 18 December and students are encouraged to come to college that day wearing Christmas outfits. A Christmas Celebration assembly will take place at 9.30am for all students and staff at Les Ozouets Campus. Students should come straight to LOC that morning and will be dismissed from there at 1pm. Students will be served festive rolls (dietary requirements will be met with various alternative options). This assembly will include some of the elements from the Carol Service held in previous years and will allow all students from across the College to be involved in a meaningful celebration of the Christmas message.
Please also put a note in your diaries that the first day of term for students will be Tuesday 5 January as we have a staff INSET Day on Monday 4 January 2021.
Jingle Bells - Let's stay well
We were delighted to be asked to join in the States of Guernsey winter health campaign. The video below will be shown on the States of Guernsey social media pages in the lead up to Christmas.
Elf on the Shelf
Our annual elf hunt has started. Elves are hiding out across our three campuses and moving around on a daily basis. If our students spot one, they can take a picture of themselves with the elf and claim a prize for their observation skills!!
Classroom Decorating Competition
Our annual classroom decorating competition has started! Departments throughout the College are competing to create the best Christmas classroom judged by our senior management team before the end of term. Already there are jingle bells on classroom doors, Santa's grotto has popped up in an Early Years room, meanwhile in Health & Social Care there's a skeleton snowman and beautiful hand-made paper-curled snowflakes and pom-pom snowballs hung from the ceiling. As for our Access department, well it's top secret for now - but we know it going to be great and involve upcycling! More to follow on what other departments are up to as we get closer to judging day...

The next meeting led by the students (but including staff) will be on Wednesday 13th January at 12pm in the Committee room, Coutanchez campus. Quiz Night
On Friday, Access students on the Workforce Academy course held a Quiz Night to raise funds for the new ‘Access’ and ‘Progress to’ charity EnrichED, which will hopefully be officially launched in the New Year. Its aim is to help to fund future trips and enrichment activities, and support students in preparing to join the workplace. It was a great evening and a fantastic £859 was raised.
A big thank you to all of the students and staff involved and to those who attended - your support is very much appreciated. The next planned event is a ‘Rock & Roll Bingo’ night on Friday 19th February and further details on this will follow shortly.

As you will be contacted directly by the relevant CLO regarding events specific to your child/ward’s course/programme area, it is important that they have an up-to-date email address for you. Their details are listed below.
