Mary's Mount Primary School
Term 4, Week 7 - 26 November 2021
A Prayer for Transition
O Faithful God,
We ask you to guide us in our time of transition. We need your wisdom, that we might be receptive to change, conversion and growth. We need your grace to redirect our hearts so we may be willing to offer ourselves in joyful service. Do not allow fear to limit the work of your Spirit.
Amen
PRINCIPAL'S NEWS
Dear Parents, Carers and friends of Mary’s Mount Primary School
Thank you to those who attended the AGM on Tuesday evening. It was a beautiful evening for us to celebrate everything we have achieved in 2021. Anna (P&F President), Karen (Chairperson SAC) and I commented on just how much was accomplished in 2021.
The evening allowed us to acknowledge and thank various members of our thriving Mary’s Mount Primary School community, especially Anna Oakley, Mel Antoine and Richard Bailiff who have all finished their tenor on the P&F Executive committee. Fay Valli and Patrick Hanna, who have come to the end of them serving our School Advisory Council.
Our thanks must be noted for the generosity shown by these members. An amazing example of what it means to be engaged in their child’s school. From all of us at MMPS, our sincerest thank you.
STRATEGIC INTENTIONS 2022-2024
Wellbeing Strategy – 2022 – 2024
Mary’s Mount Way 2 Wellbeing will be launched to the community at the beginning of next year. We will link our wellbeing strategy with all holistic educational opportunities we offer the children of Mary’s Mount Primary School.
A sneak peek into our MMPS Way 2 Wellbeing strategy, the centre of our wellbeing wheel will house an image of an oak tree. This connects us to our traditions and faith through the charism of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Apparition. Mother Pius planted the oak tree on our grounds almost 100 years ago, the symbolism of the oak tree grounds us in what ‘being well’ means. To have strength, wisdom and the capacity to heal, it is the embodiment of inner beauty and power.
The focus of our School Improvement Plan for 2022
- Social Justice and opportunities to serve others.
- Mathematics – building proficiency with grit and purpose.
- Embedding Mindfulness practice into our daily life at MMPS, linking Mindfulness practice to our Behaviour Management Plan.
- We will continue to work on creating a balance between Explicit Instruction in the Early Years and play-based learning.
- We will also develop goals for the next phase of our Aboriginal Education Improvement Map.
STAND-ALONE BUSHFIRE PLAN
MMPS has a Stand-Alone Bushfire Plan that we developed for our school this year. This is a mandated document required as we are in a high-risk zone for bushfires. This Plan can be found on our website under the Procedures tab. As stated in this plan, MMPS must comply by engaging in 3 fire drills throughout a calendar year. The drill was performed on Wednesday 24 November 2022. As always, when we complete drills such as this Mr Smith requests feedback from staff to inform how we can improve processes. Mary’s Mount Primary School has submitted our Bushfire Mitigation Report to CEWA Ltd.
ORIENTATION 2022
Kindy
It was with great joy that Mrs Hansen welcomed the Kindy 2022 children to the Kindy classroom this morning. The children and parents were treated to an engaging reading session, and everyone was in awe of how beautifully Mrs Hansen connected with the children in her captivating reading of Rumble in the Jungle.
Y1 - Y6
On Friday the children will visit their new classrooms for 2022 and their new teachers. There is excitement in the air as they welcome new beginnings for next year. The educators at MMPS are super excited.
Year 6 MISSION DAY
Thank you to the Year 6 cohort for providing fun activities for the children to engage in, to all children who have actively participated, we have raised $1014.85 for Catholic Mission and Fostering Hope.
A special shout out to Mr and Mrs Heuer - Zara’s grandparents who came in and volunteered their time to cook the sausages for all the children today.

The coaches taught students some great tennis skills, fun games and set up a tennis tournament to end the sessions with various classes. It was fantastic to see all students try their best, display some great tennis shots as well as sportsmanship during lessons.

P&F UPDATE
Many thanks to those who attended our annual P&F Association AGM on Tuesday evening. We are pleased to announce we have four fantastic parents who have volunteered to sit on our 2022 Committee - two in Executive roles and two in general Committee roles, but we do need more! We require another two volunteers to sit on our Executive Committee to form a full Committee, so until then we do not have a 2022 team in place. If you or someone you know can join our team in 2022, we'd love to hear from you. Meetings are just 1.5 hours 1-2 times per term and the workload isn't big now we've made some great changes to our structure. It's certainly a great way to get involved in our school, meet new people and have some fun along the way!
Orders are now open for the MMPS Christmas Concert dinner, with 5 varieties of yummy pizzas and two cheese platters and drinks available to pre-order. Please go to www.quickcliq.com.au to order your dinner and allocate your pick up time by next Monday 29 November. All orders can be collected from the school canteen area. All funds raised will go to coordinating our free 'Big Splash' event for all MMPS families in 2022!
Yours in education,
MMPS P&F Committee
