A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Distinguished Leaders,
Common Assessment #4 has been completed. Many of you have already been viewing the results for your campus. Many of you have seen some major improvements, some of you have shown incremental improvements and some of you have no improvements. Your
data informs the decisions you make regarding student achievement.
As your team prepares for DDI this week, every one of you should be present for those PLCs. You should be hearing what your teachers will do differently to ensure students are mastering the standards not mastered. This is the time to have those courageous conversations and make the tough decisions. Dr. Hinojosa's favorite saying, "effort is good but RESULTS are BETTER! What will you do to ensure you are getting the RESULTS you need for your campuses?
Every day, you need to make sure you are reviewing data and asking teachers to show you the number of students that are at approaches, meets, and masters. Analyze DOL data and tighten up on the progress monitoring systems for your campuses with fidelity. As you continue to hold high expectations with your staff, do not forget to take time to show how much you appreciate their hard work by offering incentives and a simple “thank you”! Now is the time to continue to press on the accelerator button and give our very best to each of our scholars. Make every instructional minute count, time on task.
Our scholars have a lifetime of opportunities that are presented to them daily. I thought of Robert Collier's words in relationship to the opportunities our scholars have over the next few months to share and communicate the sum of their efforts over the course of the academic school year. It is the CONSISTENCY in the daily efforts that allow the 'BIG DAY' to seem less daunting or overwhelming and instead perceived as a time to SHINE.
As instructional leaders, you have prepared and will continue to prepare scholars for not just a day, but for LIFE. Yes it is high stakes, this we all know; how we approach times like these and how we encourage the heart as well as the mind, that fuels confidence and the calmness needed to continue to prepare our scholars for LIFE.
As always, have an awesome week LEADING, COACHING, TEACHING ,LEARNING AND MAKING ACADEMIC ADJUSTMENTS FOR SCHOLAR SUCCESS!
Here's to a FANTASTIC week of teaching and learning!

NATIONAL READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY
Normally, we make a concerted effort to ask our community to read to our scholars. I highly encourage you to do that this year. It would be nice to have 2 community members assigned to come and read to your scholars on Friday. I would also highly encourage that you show all types of images hanging from your hallways, placed on your hallways, any quotes or illustrations from Dr. Seuss' books. This would be a great activity to demonstrate the love of reading Dr. Seuss' literature and love of poetry to our scholars.
Have fun on this day generating amazing ideas for this special day. Please take photos so that we can share with one another.
