Thornhill Elementary PFC Newsletter
Volume 26, Issue 24, February 12, 2019
From The PFC President
This next week, and the coming weeks, are likely to be even more stressful than usual for many of us. As I am sure you know, the Oakland teachers have voted to authorize a strike. And within a matter of days, we may know when a strike could start. However, as of now, no date has been set, and I ask that you do your best to remain patient as we await more information.
Many of you are concerned about the status of the school and where your children can go during the day in the event of a strike. Mr. Daubenspeck says Thornhill will be kept open and children can come to the school. However, I understand many of you do not want to cross a picket line. Plans are in the works for St. John's Episcopal Church to be open as an option for children to go during the day. However, this will require parental volunteers on their own to watch after children and please note this is not officially organized by the school or the PFC. If this is something you might be interested in, you may fill out this survey.
The PFC is doing its best to get and provide as much information as possible about a strike as soon as we learn anything of substance. We want all Thornhill parents to be able to prepare for any eventuality. If at all possible, please join us for tonight’s PFC meeting at 6pm.
