Wertmüller, Pasqualino settebellezze (The Seven Beauties) 1975

During the Second World War, a small-time gangster Pasqualino attempts to defend his family's honor by killing the man who turned his sister to prostitution. When he eventually is caught by the police, Pasqualino convinces the authorities that he should be put into the psychiatric ward in an attempt to get a lighter sentence. He soon finds out that life in the psychiatric ward is no easier than in prison, and volunteers for the Italian army to get out. Always in search of freedom, Pasqualino attempts to desert, but finds himself in even more trouble when he ends up in a German prison camp.
