Cohasset Public Schools set to implement Aspen Student Information System (SIP)
What is Aspen?
The Cohasset Public School District is adopting Aspen, a secure, web-based Student Information System (SIS), which provides a variety of tools for students, parents, and staff. All of our data has been migrated from IPass to Aspen, and we are in the process of training all of our staff to successfully implement Aspen as our new SIS. The Aspen Portal provides students and families the ability to view student information including: attendance, homework assignments, grades, report cards and address and contact information.
Aspen Access:
Students in grades 6-12 will receive an Aspen student account in the first weeks of school. A Family account will also eventually be provided for each parent/guardian, which allows parents/guardians to access information for all of their children through a single account. The features and information available in Aspen will be different depending on the student’s school level.
Schedules:
Over the next two weeks, schedules will be sent to students in grades 6-12 as part of the middle school and high school mailing packets. Elementary placement letters will be mailed out over the next couple of weeks in the elementary mailing packets. Mailing packets at all levels will include Emergency Contact Forms. It is important that parents/guardians at all levels fill out these forms, as they will help generate Aspen family portal access. We look forward to this SIS change, and we will provide family support regarding the use of Aspen, as we move into the school year.
Safety and Security Focus this fall
- Required training for all staff regarding Bullying Prevention, Sexual Harassment and Discrimination (Title VI), Special Education, Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Requirements and other important training...Both an on-line module and reinforcement through presentations and discussions during the opening days are required.
- A.L.I.C.E. Safety Training with the Cohasset Police (September 27) training for all staff
- Mandated Reporter Training for all staff from the Norfolk County Advocates for Children (October 27)
- Safety Drills for each school (at least three safety drills including "Shelter in Place" for each school)
- Cohasset Safe Schools Night brought to you by the Cohasset Safe Schools Committee will take place from 6:30PM to 8:00PM on October 15 in the Middle School and High School Auditorium. The evening will include a presentation by the Cohasset Police regarding A.L.I.C.E., a review of our Youth Risk Behavior Survey results and presentations regarding Building Safety, Inclusive Culture-Building Practices, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Bullying Prevention practices at each school. All Cohasset parents / guardians are welcome. We hope to show a supervised movie for children in the gymnasium, so that more parents may attend the event.
