Message from the Principal

Dear Carlton Families,

It was such a joy to see families and staff members at the Basket Bingo Night. I want to thank all the HSC volunteers who made this event possible. Families played bingo while sipping on hot cocoa or eating fresh popcorn. There were also fantastic themed baskets that lucky raffle winners took home. Below are some photos from the wonderful evening.

In an effort to keep our campus secure, we would like to ask families to do the following:

  • Do not enter any gates along Adonis Way (Enter from Elester Drive)
  • Wait until 8:00 am and 2:40 pm to enter the campus to drop off or pick up children (Adults should not be on campus before these times unless they are volunteering.)
  • TK and Kinder parents should be exiting the campus as soon as they pick up their TK/Kindergartener and waiting outside the gates if they have an older child that will be dismissed at a later time.

Students should be entering campus at Gates A, B, C, E, and F. (See map.). Thank you for your cooperation.

For the next two weeks, the school will be closed. We wish everyone a safe and joyous December break!

Mary Katayama,

Friday is Pajama Day! Everyone is invited to wear pajamas to school!

    Independent Study for Extended Absences

Students should attend school on a daily basis during the school year. However, there are circumstances in which students need to miss school for an extended period of time. Independent Study is for students who plan to be away from school for a minimum of 5 days but no more than 14 days. The students will complete the assigned work and then turn it in when they return to school. Once the teachers check their work, then the students' absences will be excused. To request an Independent Study, fill out this Independent Study Request form. You will need to notify the office team and teacher at least two weeks in advance in order to process your request.

2022 Carlton Second Harvest of Silicon Valley Donation Drive

Carlton's Student Council is asking families to support our donation drive for the Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. Our school has raised $6,638 so far! The grade level that collects the most donations will earn a special reward.

The total raised by each grade level as of Sunday, Dec. 11 is:

    4th grade - $3,676

    5th grade - $1,109

    3rd grade - $790

    TK/Kinder - $402

    2nd grade - $203

    1st grade - $159

Below are the donation links for each grade level.

The donation drive will end on December 15th (1:00 pm deadline). We will announce the winning grade level on the intercom at the end of the day on Friday, December 16th. Thank you for helping us provide meals for those in need in our community!

    School Performances This Week

This week, we have several performances at Carlton. 2nd graders will be performing in the Second Grade Sing-Along on Tuesday, December 13th at 1:00 pm. (Parents/guardians should bring an ID and arrive early if they have never signed in before in the school office.)

We are very excited to have a school band this year. The members of the school band will be performing for students during the day and for parents/guardians at 6:30 pm on Friday, December 16th. Parents/guardians do not need to sign in or get a name badge for programs that are held after school.

I would also like to remind everyone that parents/guardians should not take photos or videos of other students and post them on social media. Please keep this in mind when you attend field trips or school performances.

Girls on The Run at Carlton

Girls on the Run is a social-emotional program for girls in 3rd-5th grade that teaches critical life skills, such as developing healthy friendships, managing emotions, standing up for yourself and others, how to set goals, and make intentional decisions. This program will be offered at Carlton from February 27 to May 13 which will conclude with participation in a 5k race. If you would like to register your 3rd-5th grade child, go to Practices will be on Wednesday immediately after school until 2:30 and Friday immediately after school until 4pm.

Do you know someone who would like to be a coach, along with other Carlton parents this spring? One more coach is needed for our site. If you would like more information there is a virtual information night on December 14th at 6:30pm. At the virtual information night, you can learn more about Girls on the Run and how the volunteer coaches make an impact on the lives of girls in our community. Click here to register today.
