TICKS: PREVENT - CHECK - REMOVE


The best way to protect yourself and your family from ticks is to PREVENT them from being on your body by:


  • Wearing tick repellent clothing and shoes
  • Tucking long pants into socks
  • Having long sleeves
  • Using insect repellent,
  • Staying to the center of paths when walking or hiking

After you come indoors CHECK your body, your child, your pets and clothing for ticks:

REMOVE any tick you find. If you find a tick on your body, your children, or your pets it is important to remove it immediately. For information on how to safely remove a tick, click here:

PROVIDING UPDATED PHYSICALS

Does your student have an appointment for a physical coming up?

Your school nurse does not automatically receive a copy of your student's physical from their healthcare provider.

When your student has an appointment for an annual physical, please ask for a copy to provide to your school nurse so they may update your student's health record.

SEASONAL & ENVIRONMENTAL ALLERGIES

Does your student have allergies to pollen or other environmental factors? If so, please make sure your school nurse has documentation from the provider indicating their allergies and any treatments required.
