Campus Updates
Parents,
Can you believe we are already approaching the end of this 1st month of our new year? Time moves so swiftly, and your sweet babies are growing fast! We are so thankful that we can be a part of that growth! Our teachers are working so hard to make sure your child makes the appropriate progress for this year. It is so important to us! An academically strong Cool Cat is headed towards a bright future! Our kids work hard and we are so proud of them!
With this in mind, please remember school starts promptly at 7:30 am. Make sure your Cool Cats arrive on time and are in attendance every day! EVERY DAY matters! Can I say that one more time? Every student, Every day matters....
Unfortunately, our absences and tardies are on the rise, and we are having to begin our attendance meetings with parents and we will begin to file truancy as necessary. This is never fun. If you have already been notified by mail of excessive tardies or absences, please help us by improving those patterns. Did you also know that attendance doesn't just affect your student, but high absence rates affect the campus as a whole and can impact our TEA A+ rating at Hartman. We like being an A+ school! We are asking for your help. Please make sure students are in attendance and arrive before 7:30. Obviously, students with fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or any other exclusions should not be at school. Thank you SO much for your help with this. We appreciate you for sharing your amazing kids with us and for all that you do to support our school.
We had our 4th grade Writing Checkpoint this week ( its a practice STAAR test). I've never seen kids so invested, so committed to their task, so desirous of doing their best! I want to give a "whoot-whoot" to our 4th graders and the 4th grade team! We did a great job on our writing checkpoint! Our kids' scores are leading the district and there is still so much potential for growth! Congratulations, Mrs. Ferris and 4th grade team!
Finally, Thanks to all of you who came out for our Title I Tech Night! We had lots of fun and there are lots of pictures on our Facebook page! Have a great weekend!
Love,
Mrs. Bradshaw

Discipline Procedures Update
Citizenship Grades for Students in Grades 2-4
Just as it is our goal that academic grades accurately reflect a student’s skill level, it is important that our citizenship grades provide an accurate reflection of students’ behaviors and work habits. In an effort to accomplish this, our discipline team has taken a close look at our campus-wide system for providing citizenship grades. We have made a few changes that we want parents to be aware of as we move into the new semester. Beginning in January, students will receive 7 points off of the their weekly citizenship grade for each infraction beyond a verbal warning. To calculate the nine weeks grade for the report card, each weekly grade will be averaged. Please review the following for more details:
Above and Beyond Expectations – I had an outstanding day!
Cool Cat Green – I had a great day!
Verbal Warning – I received a warning, but I was able to keep my behavior on track the remainder of the day.
Multiple Warnings – I received multiple warnings.
7 points off weekly citizenship grade
Teacher Consequence – I lost a privilege(s).
14 points off weekly citizenship grade
Office Referral – I had to go to the office to reflect on my behavior.
21 points off weekly citizenship grade
This grading system will begin with the new semester in January. If you have any questions about the grading system, please contact your child’s teacher.
