Dear Worthington Park Families,

Good Afternoon Shark Families!

Thank you all for a wonderful week at Worthington Park Elementary. Our staff and students have had an amazing week together and we look forward to another great week starting on Monday. As the weather has started to turn and Fall feels a bit more like winter, please remember to send your child with a warmer coat, gloves, and a hat. Thank you!

Veteran's Day Celebration at Park

Last week, we sent out an email about the upcoming Veteran's Day celebration. We want to acknowledge those in our school community who are veterans and the great sacrifice they made for our country. If you or a member of your immediate family has served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, or Space Force we want to celebrate YOU!

Please send a photo via email to lmurphy@wscloud.org along with their name, branch of the military, years of service, and the name of the student with who you are connected. We will be compiling these photos into a presentation that will be shown throughout the school building and posted to our school website!

Please submit these photos by Tuesday, November 9th so we can include them!

Canned Food Drive

The time has come again for the annual Worthington Schools Food Drives! This long-standing tradition has been such a great help to the Worthington Resource Pantry, the St. Michael's Church Pantry, and the families in our community who depend on us for additional food resources! From now until November 19th, students can bring in:

Canned Vegetables

Canned Fruit

Soups

Peanut Butter

Canned Chicken or Tuna

Shampoo

Hand Soap

Toothpaste

Our staff will have boxes in the front entryway where students can bring their items. Thank you for any donations you are able to make!

Panorama Student Survey

We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. As you may already be aware, building our well-being and social-emotional learning skills is an important goal for our school this year and every year. Over the next few weeks, students will participate in several exercises to better understand these concepts and to reflect on how they perceive these skills in themselves.

As we have done for the last four years, we will be asking for your child to reflect on his/her own mindsets and approaches to learning via an online survey. The survey shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes to complete and will be administered during a two-week window from November 8 - November 19, 2021.

We are partnering with Panorama Education, a third-party vendor, to support us in administering these surveys. The survey content will ask students in grades 3-12 to self-reflect on School Safety, Teacher-Student Relationships, Sense of Belonging, Rigorous Expectations, and Self-Efficacy.

Student voice matters to us and their responses will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our instruction to meet their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether.

Panorama Survey for Parents

New this year, we are asking families to participate in the Family-School Relationships Survey, a 20-minute survey, where you have the chance to tell us about your experiences with us as a school district. We want to better understand you and your families’ needs so that we continue to provide high-quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of all our students.

We are partnering with Panorama Education, a third-party vendor, to support us in administering this survey. This is the same partner that administers our student SEL surveys.

The survey shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes to complete and will also be administered during the same two-week window as the student surveys - from November 8 - November 19, 2021.

Please note the following:

  • You will NOT need an access code. Once the survey is live on November 8, you will be able to just click the link to access the survey.

  • You will not be able to “stop and save” your responses. So, please set aside a time where you can complete the survey in one sitting.

  • If you have children at multiple schools, you will have to take a survey for each school.

  • We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the Family-School Relationships survey, please don’t hesitate to contact us in the office at 614-450-5500

PreSchool Peer Modeling at Sutter Park 22-23

Have a younger student who may be starting Preschool next year? Sutter Park here in Worthington Schools may be an option for your family. Below is some information from Mrs. Patricia Winland- the Prinicipal at Sutter Park. Click the informal flyer to the right for more information.

Hello Families! The program at Sutter Park is designed so that preschool children with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) receive educational services in an environment with typically developing peers. The play-based preschool program focuses on providing educational opportunities for all preschool children which will enable them to grow, develop and learn from one another.

We are the only public preschool for the Worthington City School District and are located in the Northwest part of Worthington off of Hard Road. Any student who is a resident of the school district may attend Sutter Park!

We currently have 14 Inclusion classrooms that contain half typical peers and half students with disabilities. All of our teachers are licensed through the Ohio Department of Education and hold a teaching license specializing in Early Childhood. Our program at Sutter Park has been rated 5 stars (the highest you can achieve) by Ohio’s Preschool Rating System: Step Up to Quality.

Peer role models are an important part of our school community. Are you interested in having your child attend Sutter Park next school year as a typical peer? We will have openings for peers in our morning session (birthday is between 8/1/18 and 7/31/19) and for our afternoon session (birthday is between 10/1/16 and 7/31/18). Children placed as typically developing peer models must be potty-trained and score age-appropriate on two questionnaires. The tuition is $135.00 per month, (you may qualify for reduced or free tuition) parents provide transportation, and families must reside in the Worthington School District.

If you are interested, please call the main office at 614-450-4900 or email Tricia Winland at pwinland@wscloud.org.
